Hey!

So I move from the San Francisco South Bay area to Washington DC because I just recently received an extended offer with the Corporate Executive Board in Rosslyn, Virginia. While work is due to for me to start on May 5, 2008, I'm trying to find a place to live in the DC area.

I want to live in a place where I'm close to the metro (walking distance), close to all the restaurants, bars, etc... (or I should be able to commute to it without the need of a car).

I've been looking pretty hard in the Dupont, George Washington Area, Rosslyn, etc... but I'm in a mess considering I am not physically in the area and I sit 6000 miles off from there.

Anyone know of where is a good place and offordable in price? I'm not keen on spending more than USD $1250 a month.

I would love living in a place where people are young, fun, and busy! Let me know and I look forward to hearing from you.

How are the dance, trance, club, house clubs there? What time are they opened till?

Thanks!

I live in Arlington (Rosslyn is a part of Arlington) which fits all those requirements. Unfortunately finding a place here for that much is easier said than done. This area has gotten VERY expensive lately, rivaling DC almost. Anywhere near the metro especially is very pricey. You start seeing cheaper places as you move into the suburbs, falls church, fairfax, alexandria. Unfortunately that would mean longer commutes in traffic and not as close to metro or cultural life.
Neighborhoods in Arlington around metro stops that also are relativley close to cultural and retail things would be Clarendon, Courthouse, Ballston/Virginia Square, and then Rosslyn. With Rosslyn and Courthouse being on the more expensive end of the spectrum. Although Clarendon (where I live) and Ballston aren't much cheaper.

As for in DC itself, Dupont Circle is a nice area but you will be paying an arm and a leg. Don't expect to find anything at your price range unless it's the size of a refrigerator box.

hey man! your right on time for coming out to dc. theres almost alot of trance events going in alot of clubs at least 4 times a week. most djs that come to dc play at clubs like ultrabar, fur nightclub and ibiza dc. all the clubs are located conveniently about 2 blocks away from a metro station. so u dont have to waste a lot of money for gas, parking, and having to drive your car from one place to another.

4playdc at ultrabar is a brand new event that happens on thurs. just yesterday, 16 lolitas came to play and a few weeks ago, george acosta. fur nightclub and ibiza are amazing clubs to go. at fur nighclub, theres buzz events on fri and global saturdays, where some of the coolest dcs come like atb, darude, talla 2xc, sean tyas, and alot more. ibiza is the biggest and most spacious of them all, bringing in some of the top djs in the world, like armin, ferry corsten, markus schulz, to name a few.

i can guarantee that you'll club your brains off when you come to dc. btw, get your name on the guestlist for some of these clubs, since it guarantees ya free admission or reduced entry. ;)

Hey!

Thanks a lot for all the advice. I hope the experience is good. I'm planning on finding something in the Rosslyn area.

Anyone else have any thoughts? Any know of people who are looking for room mates? Keep me updated. Thanks.
