Sasha proceeded to blow all the subwoofers by the 3rd track in so I left after that to go watch portishead.

:conf:
So S&D had a bad set? or did Sasha really blow all the subs?

SATURDAY:

- Junkie XL - Pretty good, liked that he closed with "Cities in Dust", which I think I've heard before I just didn't realize it was a JXL track (cover I should say). The person I was with thought JXL's "crescendos" were a bit too over the top and predictable. He was really looking forward to seeing his set too.

- Kraftwerk - Thought they sounded good. Got a bit freaked out by all of the nuclear references, but then I guess that's Kraftwerk for you.

- Portishead - Caught a bit of this as we were heading over to the Sahara tent to see S+D. They sounded good, didn't really "watch" though.

- Sasha + Diggers - Andrew, the person I was with at Coachella, is not at all into the dance scene - so he was dragged to the tent solely by me. I was both happily surprised and in somewhat awe that he was really into Sasha and Digweed! He danced for the majority, if not all, of their set which was a first for me witness! So, on that note alone, well done S+D! I tend to appreciate a few more vocal tracks in their sets and I thought 2 hours was just not enough time for the journey. Granted, they played longer than most everyone on that stage all weekend. I liked the light setup they had going on. I watched "the Frenchies" in action for a bit too. Cool stuff.

- Prince - So much energy and so much charisma on stage. It was a massive time warp! Bizarre to hear everyone singing along to "party like it's 1999" when it's 2008. He's a true legend and brought the funk to no end. Covering Radiohead was a big plus as I never, in a million years, would have expected that!

SUNDAY:

- Danny Tenaglia - Wasn't really doing it for me, sadly. A lot of people in the tent were having a great time! The heat was blistering hot, so probably affected my energy levels a bit too much for me to get into his set.

- Love and Rockets - Nice to see them performing again - and another flashback moment. I thought they started out pretty good, then lost their luster a bit in the middle there, then kicked it back up a notch at the end. Not as tight as I was hoping they'd sound, but not a horrible display either.

- Some d+b in the multi-coloured floral light tent - thought there were a lot of interesting sounds coming from that area. I loved the art direction there and thought it would make excellent decorations for an extravagana. I'd love to know who did that installation?!

- Roger Waters - Simply amazing. Loved hearing the entirety of Dark Side of the Moon just after the intermission. A lot of other classic tracks that I really wanted to hear and got to hear! The visuals were great. I wasn't expecting the giant flying pig. It flew awfully close to the bursts of flames in the middle of the main stage field, but luckily didn't burn or blow up as we had giggled about.

I was bummed we missed Deadmau5 as I really wanted to see some of that action!

Friday:
Sebastian- was way dope for the 20 minutes of his set that i saw. a lot of energy.
Slightly Stoopid- they were legit but could have had more energy.
Adam Freeland- not bad, but kind of lame when he remixed a song putting obamas name in it.
Sandra Colins- pretty good, i liked it.
Diplo-probably the best set of the day. he thew down with some massive tunes. made a party in the sahara tent.
Pendulum-....ehhh
Fatboy Slim-other than him being 20 minutes late to go on, his visualizations and music was sick. he threw down with a lot of energy.

Saturday:
Boize Noize- definently sick with it. they had a bangin, grindy set.
Kraftwerk- i didnt know who they were til i heard their songs. definently epic. they tore it up. definently worth seeing.
Sasha and Digweed- they tore it up. sick set up, sick music, perfect progression. it was epic, i have a new found respect for them.
Above and Beyond- they went on when prince was on so there was barely anyone there to see them but they were pretty legit. i only stayed for 30 minutes but it was an epic 30 minutes.

Sunday:
Deadmau5- tore it up! saw him at TAO and this was nothing like that. he played sick techhouse and techtrance. but his closer (untitled) could have been a better song.
Booka Shade- pretty legit, not my style but i enjoyed it listening to their music
Danny Tangelia-it took him a while to get good but when he got into his groove he banged it out and it was worth dancing to.
ROGER WATERS- probably the best experience of my entire life. the visualizations, the speaker set up, the music, everything was perfect. my favorite show to this day. he made the whole 3 days worth it. if youve never seen him play and you are a pink floyd fan, i recommend it fully.
Justice- they were alrite, not too bad but too many buidups that it killed the beat and the ability to dance.

overall coachella was sickkkk. they need more/better electronic dj's but its always worth it every year.
DjArTiN!
I found Danny Tenaglia to be REALLY in good, i know the bud had a little to do with it but i thought he really killed the place he played banger after banger and put on a great show, the atmosphere in the tent was just too great, i was looking around and felt no other dj had the crowd rocking as Tenaglia, this guy was just amazing.

I also loved Kraftwerk's performance, the sound was amazing, and they're music was just great, I loved their show.

Unfortunately I didn't get to see Justice that much or see them closely, my friends and I lagged it after Roger Waters and decided to get some food and drinks so when we got there people had already rushed to that whole tent and there was BARELY any room to get inside. We got lucky to stand a bit inside the end of the tent just enough so the sound was not "reverbish," I really enjoyed listening to this duo grind this tent into pieces they really tore it up, the only thing I kinda found annoying was how they lagged some of the songs it felt like they were messing around too much with the song and it sort of got killed but anyways these guys always impress me so I left happy.

Did anyone catch Zabiela's set?
=aZnxTraNceR=
Just got back home! Here are my thoughts:

Friday:

-Cut Copy: Awesome set! Definately worth checking out if you get the chance.
-Mum: Always good to hear them, I was sitting out in the grass just resting during the end of their set.
-Goldfrapp: Stayed for 30mins and from what i heard she was great. Was in love when she played A&E.
-The Verve: I didn't stay long enough to hear Bittersweet Symphony... But from what I saw they were pretty spot on.
-Aphex Twin: Rick James Bitch! :eyespop:
-Datarock: Disappointing, they should have just played their album instead
-Fatboy Slim: Ended my night with him and he actually had a really great setup on stage (vids later) plus a fun set to experience. Very energetic and animated guy.

Saturday:

Got there pretty late and was upset to miss boys noize and zabs but eh, thats what you get for playing floating beirut in the pool in the early afternoon.

-Hot Chip: fun upbeat set, played a lot from their new album
-Junkie XL: Couldn't stop dancing love that guy. He really had the crowd going when he dropped his new track More.
-MIA: pissed me off. we were pretty close from the front about 10ft away from the rails and couldn't even move. i didn't even have to stand really since everyone else was holding me up by just being so close. Felt like we were a can of sardines. Left after that and saw Animal Collective.
-Animal Collective: First time hearing this band and I loved them!
-Kraftwerk: Machine Machine!!!
-S&D: saw about 30mins of their set and it was great
-Calvin Harris: I really didn't know that this was an actual band. Great set though and way better crowd than MIA, no one was shoving and there was room to breathe which was nice.
-Prince: Great performer!! I left the festival after I heard 1999

Sunday:

-Stars: Pretty good canadian band. I really liked their new album and they sounded just like it live
-Deadmau5: fun enough set to wait out for booka shade
-Booka Shade: This set was way more upbeat than what I had heard of them when they were in denver! Very fun guys
-Danny Tenaglia: He had a decent set. I was right up front the whole time for his set and there were moments that I felt he wrecked a few times and knew it, but fixed them after 30 secs or so. He also seemed like he was definitely on something. But very animated and into the crowd.
-Modeselektor: :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: yeah! I got soaked with the champagne in the end haha. I'll post my vids later
-Simian Mobile Disco: :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: What the hell was that thing they were using?! any ideas someone? but seriously I hope I can see them live again! (again vids later)
-Roger Waters: Saw a few songs from him and caught dark side of the moon. I'm not a big fan.. but what i saw was good. kinda bored me though. my friends who were huge fans loved it..
-Justice: Caught them for a little bit, heard Genesis and the song after and then left to the Do Lab for the theatrical event.

There's my short review of Coachella. plenty of beirut during the day and after the festival and great music in between. no complaints :)
