so, from what i can understand here...
someone offered you a radio show cause you said you dj
you took the show without fully realizing the work it actually entails
trying to put together the show, you see you're in over your head
you come on to TA to get people to do your work for you
the peeps on TA see what's going on and bust you for it |

Hey ********
You would probably have received a better response if you had approached this from a different angle.
There are a couple of things you could have done and they are as follows:
By all means ask if anyone has any recommendations, I agree it is fun to share music suggestions and mix ideas. There is no harm in that.
Although, given that you are in an asking position, it’s not worth your while to get all defensive even if some people may have been a wee bit harsh.
However, the crucial point is to give people their dues, so you offer some sort of incentive i.e. you will be hosting a featured mix even if it’s just three tracks from a member of the Global Trance community. That way you get different influences and can also get track suggestions.
Get creative and involve people, us DJs tend to respond better to that and will often be more willing to give you more of our time. I’m not saying that you need to big up our ego’s but it’s a dog eat dog world in DJing and it is a serious case of you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours.
My angle would be this; I have some new tunes about to be released and would hand you some radio edits if you agree to play them. I can also do a short three track mix as a feature if you were interested. Not to steal your thunder or anything but just to get an exchange if you see what I mean.
What you could have done is in your original question is to have perhaps posted your proposed track listing and then stated, ‘this is what I have so far, is there anything that you guys feel is hot at the moment or that you would think would work nicely.
You have a radio show, use it well and make it something really worth doing and it can pay off in the long run.
Just my two cents, send me a PM if anything I have said is of interest to you.
Cheers

No mate im messing, i would do as suggested and just listen your way through top 10's on download sites. I prefer djdownload.com, the tracks are well priced and you can listen to the whole track, which is a big help.
Be sure to put your set up for download

So... just been reading this thread and got more angry with every post. What the f*ck is wrong with you guys, the guy simply asks for the help with finding some tracks, regardless if he has the time or not. I know it's to late by now, but if I read this before, I would give you 20 quality tracks if you'd like.
And all the cr4p about, disrespecting the art of a DJ, that's the most b*ll I heard today. In the 'Producers' section, everybody is giving away their special producing tricks, is that 'disrespecting the art of a producer'.
C'mon guys, I really feel sorry for you. The time spend b*tchin about to give the guy some tracks or not, could easily be used to actually provide him the track.
Here, I'll give you one:
Super8 & Tab - Elektra (my personal fav @ the moment, although not released yet).
Next time, just give the guy some names okay? |

| If you're too lazy to even bust open the thread of peoples playlist. find a style you like and then carbon copy that list then you are a waste of space. |

Or just give him the name of 1 unreleased track that he has no hope of tracking down.
I take it this is your first ashley thread. The bottom line is that he wanted the forum to do the legwork and they didn't, which sparked an indignant response from him escalating into folks bashing him for not doing the job he's being paid to do.
And your producing analogy would work better if he had actually met the forum halfway. It would be one thing if he had an hour of the hour and 45 filled, and he was just looking for a few tracks to fill it out; but he was asking for the whole thing. When producers share "tricks", its so they can adapt it to the work that they've already done. "Tricks" dont do any good if you havent written any music. You WILL find that people in the producing forum who post things like "how do I make a trance tune" get met with the same disapproval.
I do see where you're coming from in that we should try and be supportive as a community of enthusiasts, but we're just that... enthusiasts. He seems to show no enthusiasm for what he's doing, rather he just wants it done. It would be like me going into a computer programming forum and saying "I want a program to do this for me, make one" as opposed to "I HAVE a program that's doing this for me, how can I add X to it?" We're only giving as much effort as he is. |
