OMFG or OMG (pg. 3)

It's just a TV show :wtf:

I'd rather they advertise how raunchy it is up front instead of finding out after the fact. At least this way people know what to expect.

See, you have completely twisted what my actual concern was about into some "scaremongering" "angry" anti-marijuana thing. I have no problem with pot, or people who smoke it. Common, I live in Canada... practically everyone I know smokes up, including myself from time to time.

Anyway, as I was discussing with Ben, I don't see the big deal really. If your children reading that board knows what the acronym means, then that ship has sailed... it's too late to try and protect your kid from the big bad f word.

However, I can understand that people may think that this is encouraging kids of that age to behave similarly as it is being "glorified" on television to look cool or whatever.

On the same note, why are you letting your kid watch this ? Or if they are watching it anyway, why haven't you instilled a strong enough sense of what is right and wrong in them so they don't try to mimic the negative behaviours?

Personally, I think it is silly that people are so up in arms about a word. There are far worse things being shown on television on a day to day basis, and people decide to fight against "OMFG" on a billboard?

Look an advertisement here and there and late night commercials is fine. But out in the open - I can understand.

This is the problem with our society. We are so closed about stupid . that has no effect on raising children because by this time, they are already aware of wtf is going on! The ship has already sailed. Why even bother then, challenging something that is old news for the kids that look at it?

I'm pretty confident that anyone who participated in that thread realizes that what you've written here is complete bull, so I don't really feel the need to repeat myself on how misguided your opinion, and what you posted in the other thread, regarding pot really is.

LOL!

The few times I have driven through the states, I have seen more billboards about "men's clubs" and sex stores than I have seen in my life. Again... I think that ship has sailed.

Why is intimacy seen as "inappropriate" yet shows and such with a message of violence doesn't seem to phase anyone?

I personally have discussed this, with Craig around, with Theresa, and her view is exactly what she said in the post above. Craig, Theresa, and I talked about this specific issue (legalization of weed) when I was in Toronto. So her view is, from what Craig and myself heard, was that she thinks it should be legal. I quit reading that thread long before it was where it is now, due to the fact it was veering way off course and wasn't being discussed on the original topic. turning into a fest.

That's just absurd. The billboard is on par with what can be seen in many things every day. Yet because its on a billboard, or some sort of print or film, it's now deemed inappropriate.

It wasn't a fest, and I made a point to be as polite as possible.

And like it or not, I don't have the experience you and Craig apparently do, so all I had to go on was what was posted (which happened to be a lot of misinformation).

It's on you if you want to make up your mind after reading it, but to write it off as a fest without even reading it is pretty short sighted.

What I posted was not misinformation... most of it was my opinion, or hypothetical situations in which I was concerned could present problems. I was not presenting "facts", and never claimed to be doing so.

Rob, you have been on this tyrannical rampage of proving everyone wrong regardless of whether there was something to prove in the first place. You have particularly targeted myself, and at this point I get the impression that despite anything that I say, I would inevitably be wrong or stupid according to you. You seem to read into what is being said and contort it into something that is entirely different than what was originally being addressed, which is why half the time I just stop trying to communicate with you.

Yes, I have reservations about legalization of pot, but I am not opposed to it.

Anyway, wrong thread.
