So, we were supposed to come down two months ago but happens... anyways, some friends and I will be down May 15-20 and was wondering if anything is going on in Miami? We're thinking of Deadmau5 at Mansion but I heard they're in legal trouble right now (the club), so I dunno...
I read through the events page in this forum, didn't come up with much. *shrugs*
Anyways, I'm Maggie :)
Also, if I do choose to go to Mansion, is wantickets.com the best/cheapest place to find? |

| yeah, the week after wmc 12 of the mansions bouncers "alledgedly" back roomed 2 guys who were upset at being waaayyy over charged on a c.c. card. miami is always good for that. 1 little tip. if youre going out to any cub in miami bring cash. they like to tip themselves on your credit card and hope youre too drunk to notice. |

| Anthony Pappa @ Shine May 16th... Mansion, it sucks there anyway. |

Never heard of Pappa, I'll look into it :) Thanks :) I think my boyfriend may be hell bent on Deadmau5, though. We'll see.
I actually found the topic on here about Mansion right after I posted this, that's pretty ed up! And I thought Atlanta's bouncers were crazy! Sounds like a psuedo-gucci place filled with wannabe hipsters... maybe we shouldn't go :(
Oh... and sorry to be an annoying tourist, but if anyone has any good recommendations for bars and restaurants, too, I'd love it! We ate at Burger King almost every day last time cause everything was so expensive :( We're staying at the Continental Oceanfront.
Thanks guys! |

As for food and/or general information...

There are good cheap places to eat if you look hard enough. Stay away from Ocean Drive, not worth the price.
Unless you're into the models and bottles crowd, stay away from Mansion. It was just a bad experience all around for us 2 years ago.
Anthony Pappa will be 10x better that Mau5, plus Shine is a really neat little venue.
If you are into partying hard, hit Space for afterhours on Saturday night/ Sunday morning.
I'll be there with a couple of other TAs on the same weeking, if you make it out to Pappa feel free to PM me. |

Wow, thanks for linking me to that thread!
Err... I just realized we've been to Shine. It's right next door to the hotel we'll be at. I don't know if it was just for WMC, but when we were there last year we tried to get into Sander K and the bouncer wanted $150. Are they usually that retarded or was it just that night?
... we were able to sneak in the back, though, and nobody noticed. Lol. |

I've been there the last 2 years for Sander K and once for Dave Seaman/Nick Warren. The bouncers have been pretty average both years. Sounds like you got a bad apple. I wouldn't worry about it.
There is also a techno party at Karu & Y that night, which is downtown. Probably a $20 cab ride each way. Very cool venue but a bit expensive $$$. I forget who is headlining it. |

| Well, we're probably game. As I said, I believe it's right next door to our hotel (Continental Oceanfront), so if it's reasonable, why not? :) Can you buy tickets in advance somewhere? |
|

I wouldn't worry about buying tickets in advance, it should be around 20 at the door.
If your man really likes Mau5, go for it, it's not my type of club personally but you guys might like it.
There's also Adultnapper @ Blue which usually has free entry. |

Yeah, they may be bent on going. Someone told him that they usually promote some brand of alcohol or another and give out cheap shots, and since he's an alcoholic in training, that sounds good to him *sigh*
Mansion sounds like our club Opera, used because it's massive, but all EDM fans hate it cause the staff doesn't realize we don't care about their cocky hip hop image. I guess it right pisses them off, so they're known to be even MORE of a when there's a DJ there |

funny you say that about the mansion over charging you on your credit card..i was jus reading the bests/Worsts of WMC 08 and one of the worsts was the mansion trying to overcharge this dude 3000 dollars more than his bill. i might try to stay away aswell.

I think that was 07 because that's when it rained. And rained. And rained some more. We lost many "valuables" in a puddle under the tent when Fatboy Slim was playing.
One week and I get to escape Atlanta! Woo hoo! |
