I tricked a couple of teenagers with The 6th HardtranceMania, but then again I'm so god damn handsome I could play Beethoven and still get laid.

thats the perfect song, hands down. from the lyrics to the vocalist its stuning oh man I remember back in 02 this was my favorite song next to dj sammy - heaven, california dreamin, and boys of summer

Theres your answer then. Impress girls with total crap. Certainly correlates with the awefulness my Mrs listens too. I could have played her the most uplifting trance, the most forward thinking prog' house or the filthiest tech house ever when I first met her and it would have meant nothing and got me nowhere.

In my experience its very rare to find a girl / woman who is into proper dance music. I know one and thats it, there were some who were into it for a bit but they aren't anymore. Most friends and mates girlfriends listen to chart cheese or R n B.

BTW, why do you need music to impress a woman? Lacking in lustre or coversation yourself? Take her out, pay for everything, be nice, don't be pushing for a shag. If she liked you a bit in the first place you can't go too wrong.

Maybe not across the pond but British women expect this. I've heard the debates for and against, mutual respect blah blah. Reality is 9 out of 10 Brit women will expect the bloke to pay. In subsequent dates, a good one will pay for you in return, mine did.

That said with yank women I have the accent on my side, so maybe I wouldn't need to pay over there!:D

haha good point. let me rephrase. "don't do it unless you're sure she'd be willing to do the same."

when i go out wherever with girls, i always make sure she pays her part. then, if a bit of a relationship develops and i'm sure she's the kind of girl who will reciprocate, i'll gladly pay the whole piece.

in a good relationship, it shouldn't even be an issue.

What a sack of . I personally think its best to start straight away and set a precedent. I have had no trouble in the past with any of the girls I have dated and girlfriends.

To be honest if any girl did expect me to pay for anything, Thats pretty much the date over... It might of been the norm 50 years ago, but now with salries very similar, you each have pretty much the same disposable income. I hate the attitude 'you have to pay for everything' If you want to be a mug.. Carry on....

And the 9 out of 10 is bull!

Set a precedent!!!:stongue: Good start to date mate. 'Right love just so you know we are splitting the costs proportionately according to our salaries and to elimate any socio-gender based stereotyping'. Out of interest how do you work this out?? When you ask a girl out for a date do you ask her to bring along her latest payslip and P60? Then work out who pays what from there......
What happened to taking a girl out? Or would that be soooo 50 years ago. And read the coversation that developed between Kadomony and I before you post again. Dont spend too long on t'internet though I'm sure there will be a host women beating your door down, payslips in hand, wanting a date from 'Mr equality 2008':D :D :D

There's nothing wrong with "taking a girl out" and paying for her. There's everything wrong with women expecting you to pay for them.

It's a social thing - couple times my friends and I have been tricked by women we were sort of dating - you are sort of good friends, sort of dating, but when you are at a bar and want to buy her a drink, she doesn't let you, coming up with whatever reason sounds good to her. Then, she proceeds to borrow money from you because there's a credit card limit/no cash/forgot wallet/whatever. And never pays back, of course. Thus, in essence, you are paying for her drink without her allowing you to claim the pleasure and the social status of buying her a drink. All sorts of ed up in here.

There was a thread in the DJ Booth subforum not long ago, can't find it. And women usually tend to like whatever's popular, whatever's cheesy. The consensus was that not many females have appreciation for EDM. As I was recently told by one of the resident attendees of our EDM parties, "We don't care about what you guys want to play, we just want to hear songs we know and heard before". Paradoxical, isn't it? Also, as another piss-drunk English bird told me at a club gig, "Play something good... like something everybody knows. That song, it's #1 on the charts in the UK. I don't know who sings it, or what the title is, but it's about a boy in New York"
Point being... some people just don't give a about good music and listen to whatever is popular or whatever charts/MTV/their friends tell them to listen to.

In my experience, girls overwhelmingly prefer songs that have lyrics. That's probably why a large number of them don't like what you call "proper EDM."

Just pay unless she offers to split the cost. Easy.
