...has been more fun to watch than it should be.

Thoughts?

:conf:

Seems to me like he's getting what he should have known he would.

It just seems clear that neither he, nor his lawyer, really understand that when you file a defamation lawsuit you have to prove that you had a character capable of being defamed in the first place. :p

At least Bonds (or his attorney) was smart enough to know not to sue someone for defamation.

The whole situation with Clemens boggles my mind - his attorney is either a moron or lacks any sense of legal ethics and procedure (i.e. he's just cashing in).

agreed, clemens is a douche, we all know he took the roids and hgh. he should have just quietly admitted to it in the first place and moved on and nobody would be talking about him right now. He could have just said his trainer told him they were vitamins/supplements like everyone else does.

to be honest, why not?

"that's right roger you're innocent, let's go get them"

/ensues laughing all the way to the bank.

i can totally see it, and that is completely the smartest thing to do by his lawyer(s). the man has made an insane amount of money, especially lately where he'd come back at the all-star break and pitch like 6 games. why not get some of it out of him.

So long as he plans on retiring after this stunt, yeah - I definitely understand why he'd do it.

Cash cow is a cow made of cash.

Roger Clemens is pretty much learning (again) how karma can be such a bitch :gsmile:

I always liked and respected Clemens and I really wanted to defend him, but since the Senate hearing, the less convinced I am that he's innocent. he should have just swallowed his pride and did what Petitte did; admit, apologise (RETIRE) and then move on. Nobody would care anymore if he did because he was probably one of WHO KNOWS how many players used roids and HGH (the latter of which should be legal anyway if you ask me).

Now this crap about the underage girl, which he denies along with steroids yet again...but then apologises for something he won't specify? Who is this guy's lawyer? How can Clemens be so foolish and naive?

Retarded!

well i think there's a bit of the votes for the hall of fame implications.

i don't think these athletes would care half as much if it wasn't for their "legacy". mark mcgwire's plight made everyone with a future in cooperstown think twice to admitting anything.

Indeed. Though Clemens should still have been smart enough to cash in his chips when he was down a little, rather than staying at the table long enough to lose it all.
