Here is an excerpt from National Tax News just posted on our server. It appears that the e-file deadline is extended to May 6th, but there is still conflicting information that they are trying to work out. Please read below... ...

Yesterday, the CRA announced that due to problems at the CRA, the efiling deadline had been extended to midnight local time on May 6, 2008. However, there appears to be conflicting information from the CRA regarding this deadline. Our understanding, based on conversations with the Sudbury efile office and the wording of the attached email, is that if you have efiled by May 6, 2008, the return will not be considered late filed and that this is a blanket extension that will apply to all T1s as a result of the difficulties with efiling experienced over the last two days. Another office has received conflicting information when dealing with another efile centre and was advised that the extension will only apply to returns which we have attempted to efile by the April 30th deadline (though we do not understand how they would be able to confirm this point).
We have advised the efile desk in Sudbury of this conflicting information and have asked for clarification. In the interim, please continue to try and efile your returns as best you can prior to the April 30th deadline. We will let you know as soon as we hear back from the CRA. |
LOL... nevermind, this wont apply to most of u since it involves "efiling".
This just gives you a breather if have an accountant that efiles pers returns. (as most acctg firms do) |

However, many transactions are successful. We recommend that you continue trying to access our systems on a periodic basis.
We apologize for the inconvenience and assure you we are doing what we can to remedy the situation as soon as possible. Electronic filing continues to be the fastest method of processing tax returns. Further updates to follow.
Please note: All returns accepted by midnight (local time) on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 will be considered on time, and no filing penalty will be assessed.
For clients with self-employment income and their spouses or common-law partners, you have until midnight Monday, June 16, 2008 (filing due date) to file their tax return.
Please remember, to avoid interest charges the balance owing must be paid or post marked April 30, 2008.
We thank you for your patience and cooperation.

$99.75 x4 x your tax rate. Probably about $80? |

^^ Not necessarily.
Depends.
Did you owe taxes?
If you didnt (ie. had a refund) then it makes NO difference.
Its a tax credit, not a tax deduction. Credits reduce a payable to the gov't. If you didnt owe the government, then ud see no benefit from claiming ur bus passes. |

Doesn't it reduce the total amount of tax owed. And since that tax was pre-paid, you should have more returned? |
