I just bought a SL-Q303 Technics turntable from a garage sale for $50. I dont know the 1st thing about turn tables btw. Anyway, I came home and tried to set it up, plugged it into the AUX of my sound system at home ad tried to play a record. When the turn table is on, I hear it playing faintly as the needle is going through the record, but I have to turn the AUX sound level WAAYYY up to hear it through the speakers, and the sound kind of sucks. Could n e 1 specify what the problem could be?

you need a phono pre-amp

the sound coming from a turntable or microphone isn't at line level, they need a pre-amp to be brought to a line level signal, then they're good to go through an amp

if your amp doesn't have a phono selection you'll need a separate pre-amp or mixer with a pre-amp
