Then I'm definitely gonna take a look at the Access Virus TI.

Maybe it's just because I'm old-skool, but I think that turning off your computer, turning on a hardware synth, turning actual knobs, and listening to what happens is a much more efficient and fun way of learning to program synths compared to clicking/dragging on virtual controls. Just my two cents.
Its like flying a flight simulator rater than actually flying.

I've done that enough through out my life.

I don't disagree. I forgot where I read it, but the producer that was talking mentioned that when he uses hardware he is listening to the music. When he is using software he has a tendency to watch the music. I can relate; I have the same tendency. Not always, but enough of the time. Sometimes just turning the monitor off makes it a hell of a lot more fun. :)

Only 10k$ for the entry level one huh.. :p

VL Tone? I think under the 4Beat sub menu it has various insta-beat options for trance, hard trance and psychadeic freeform hardcore?

Plus I heard its good for Moog style basses, so pretty much an all rounder trance synth. Time to throw out your Ti!

Dont rip it man
I have two of them, and 2x VSTi clones...right down to the calculator and ASDR functions.
Can get some nasty bass sounds and some generally ed up-ness from it.

lots of controversy here... Nice n thick - just the way I like it. First - virus ti is a half-baked POS, IMHO. If you enjoy pain, chasing bugs, trying to figure out problems you should never have with a $2k+ synth - then by all means. I have nothing bit disdain and loathing for this piece of junk. So much so, that I went out of my way to get a virus c, so that I wouldn't have to deal with all the nonsense, nonresponsiveness from virus support and arrogant twats who spew more spittle than a rabbid mac fanboiii, claiming TI is a perfection itself. If you're convinced that its so great - I'll sell you my polar. Cheap too - only $2k usd.

if you want to learn the synthesis - get a well laid out classic - Juno 106 or Jupiter 6. Learn and enjoy. Simplicity itself. If you want more modern - get nord lead 1 or 3. Be sure nl1 has a 12 voice expansion. If money is tight get smth like yamaha an1x. Not expensive, fantastic keys and can be great midi controller but not the easiest synth to learn.

Anyway, stay away from ROMPLERS like fantom, motif , triton, or vsynth. Btw vsynth is kinda interesting bit a bitch to learn to really enjoy it. Getting skin deep with it will only dissapoint after extensive use.

Best idea - try checking out harmony central reviews before you buy.

The latest non-beta release works perfectly. I never touch the virus itself... I only use the VirusControl interface in Cubase. No problems at all.

I just bought one of these! My Prophet 08 rack should be here today!!! (where the hell's the drooling emoticon when you need one?!) :tongue3

Anyway, I sold my Novation Supernova and a few other synths to make room and $$$ for my new toy - it should complement my Polar TI and Nord 2X quite nicely, dontcha think? ;)
