You're not dumb... maybe lazy... but certainly not dumb. Dumb would be never attempting to try and get your education. Dumb would be accepting that you didn't do it and giving up.
At least you're smart enough to know that going and getting your HS diploma is a good idea.

maybe he HAD to b/c of fcuked up life circumstances
maybe he didn't have any motivation from anyone to make anything of himself and he is in constant pursuit of this motivation
