orchestral VSTi's

Piano, strings and brass. What would be the best VSTi's for these?

I remember trying TruePianos a while back by 4Front, the same company that puts out a decent free version. Very good.

Strings would be next in importance to me... to get that sort of Darren Tate sound. Followed by brass.

imo, samples are the way.

buy kontakt!

Computer Music issue 120 has a Darren Tate masterclass and for his strings he uses Absynth and Atmosphere along with a TI for his pads.

Perhaps try out the demo version of pianoteq for piano. Their website has audio demos which sound incredible. It's a modelled piano, rather than using samples, it only requires 15 megs of hard drive space!

+1

Another one to check out is Cakewalk's Dimension Pro - it's not a sampler, but it does come with a huge library (plus two free expansions) containing a ton of orchestral sounds.

Atmosphere seems to be best for trance orchestra sounds but I have no experience with it. I use Kontakt and layer up pads from FM8 and Absynth to get different effects, it took me a while to get used to, but I think I'm starting to sound OK with it.

Nothing to do with trance, but what's the best software to make some orchestral tracks that sound like real instruments?
BOOsTER
I kinda like Edirol's Orchestral HQ, or whatever it's correct name is :) I never seem to remember..

also...the orkester sound bank in reason is quite good, if you combine the two, you get pretty decent sounds :)

East West Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra is one package that is widely used. Take a listen to their demos:

I've never used it but I have used their Symphonic Choirs and they sound brilliant!

OMG! Those demos sound GREAT! Thanks a lot, I guess that's the software I'll need.
