Ive been trying to make stabs like this:

with no success.
check 1 min 47 and 1 min 50
thats not the best exapmle, but bassicly im after those house sound stabs with the lfo thing going on at the end. you used to hear alot of them in old funky house tracks.
also, deeper basses like this:

Any help with programing these sounds or anyone using reason who could patch them for me would be sweet. |

i dont know of many synths that do this kind of bass well. most synths oscilators crap out before they get this low. some kind of bass enhancer is pretty much mandatory. korg legacy and v-station are good. try the waves or voxengo bass enhancers too.
you're missing the link to the first example btw. |

i don't know much about reason. i have heard thor is quite good, so you might be able to get away without vsts. what i said above is how i would go about it. wait until someone more knowledgeable replies. ;) |

for those stab sounds, you play a chord and put some vibrato/tremolo on it. flange works too. again, i'm not sure how reason works, but for alot of default vst patches the mod wheel is already linked to this effect. |

No vsts in reason ftl =o(
I didn't listen to your samples, but I've a suggestion nonetheless. Having a very present and clear higher frequency part in combination with a deep low frequency part is necessary to make a bassline feel up front, full, resonant, and present. Very good for things like electro house. How this is accomplished is flexible. The method I like doing:
With you existing basslines, identify their high-end frequency portion that gives it identity and audibility. EQ out all of what's below that, remove all the bass part of the bass.(hehe)
Now try making a second bass synth that follows the first, but is programmed specifically for deep low end only, like sine waves or whatnot, and remove the high end component of this synth. If the two parts' attacks are matched closely enough, hopefully it'll sound like the same synth.
This way you can treat the two synths independently, one part specially eq'd and processed for low end resonance, in mono. The other upper register part can be specialized for audibility and interest. You might try stereo effects like flanging chorus or reverb for varied results, and its safe since it's not affecting the low end. |

nice tips man thanks |

the first is a stings-like synth with vibrato on it, with a full sustain and really low attack/release, try layering some high octaves saws...
the second one is also a simple saw bass on low octave with a filter automation and gliding, you just need to experiment with these as you go...
im not so familiar with the reason synths so i cant make you a program, but what i said above is the basic, i heard nothing too complicated there... you know what sound i discovered is complicated a while ago? until i realized how its done? kinda funny but the backing synth for "lasgo-alone" was a tough one :)

ive had some mild success getting the bass alot lower within thor. i guess its all down to practisce now :)
still scounting for someone to do the dirty work and come up with a string patch 4 me ;)
[i lack hard at getting a nice sound with strings] |

definitely a skill that takes a bit of practice.
So you mind sharing what you did that worked for you? |

so far ive been using sine and saw waves with all the highs eqed out using a but of tube compression.
layering with a saw only patch low eqed out,and high filter freq.
kinda tough to get them sounding like the same synth..and its still distorting a little..but i'll keep at it. |
