chiming in on the 'i ing loved it' note started by lesbianosaur, only 10 minutes in so far but grooving to it already :toocool:
god damn, i write school papers really really efficiently to good grooving sets, and between this and jake's new set i've written almost 1200 words of a 2000 word paper which i just started tonight :toocool: |

| Holy ! I think i actually liked one of the songs with vocals in it. I also like that it is mostly vocal less songs which i think is uncommon with this style of music. |

| Really enjoying it. I'll give it a proper listen tomorrow as I have class in 7 hours. Loving progressive house/trance more and more. I like spinning trance more but this is definitely more enjoyable to listen too with a pair of fones on just grooving. |

So I couldn’t find Robs new set on my player this morning so I went with this one since it was next on my list. Honestly I don’t have too much to review on it. It’s a real solid set with no major grips or pain points. The mixing and track selection throughout the set is very good. Its yet another “Flirty” .. “Dancy” .. summer set. I love the set that you put together last summer for the exact same reasons. It was something I normally don’t listen to but on a nice sunny summer day I can put it on and enjoy some quality tunes.
On that note the only recommendation I could make would be to maybe bring it down a up a bit throughout the mix. It was chugging the whole way through with was cool but it would have been nice to see some deeper tracks dropped to chance the tempo. That’s just me though and I’m sure a lot of people will like the fact its chugging. Almost all of the tracks have great synths in them. I’m a sucker for moody synths and there is plenty to feed off. Overall nice one Myra, it will get some play.
~ Around 35:00 – LOVED the track
~ Around 49:30 – Really dug the mix
~ Around 59:00 – ACE track
~ Around 1 hour – Didn’t really care for the mix that much, seemed kinda forced |

i always have a hard time figuring out the best way to play with the energy of a set by bringing it up and down a few times without hitting a boring spot or losing too much energy. usually i have this very specific idea in my head when i start working on a mix of how i want it to build up, peak, and break down... and i over analyze it and become kind of a freak about it. i admit i stick to that mold almost every time, because it's what i personally enjoy listening to, and all the sets i've thrown together were created solely for my own enjoyment and to share with friends (or anyone who wants to listen). i just love being able to throw something on and have it hook me from beginning to end with one continuous stream of emotion and ideas, so that's always what i strive to do.
on the other hand... i look at what you and Rob do - especially as live DJs, you guys ing rock the darker/deeper glitchy techy stuff - but i just can't grasp that concept. your thought process doesn't make sense to me, but it sounds good.
- track at 35min is Audiomontage - Vision 2 Vision
- glad you like the mix into Goloka - Thinking About You as it's one of my favorites as well, especially around 50:12... the way the two tracks play off each other
- track at 59min is Marcho - Roof-deck (Strictly Instrumental Version)
- agreed on the mix at 1 hr - not one of my favorites
thanks for the in-depth review, Mathias, and i'm really glad you enjoyed it. :) |
