The joy of looking for a job.

I forgot how frustrating it is to look for a job. I've been unemployed for about 2 weeks now and it's getting to me...

Anyone ever have a good experience with a job agency? I just hate that they make you come in and do all sorts of tests, sometimes it takes up your whole day.

Bah!

Takes up the whole day? LOL!

Let me guess... The "unemployed schedule" is so busy that there is no time.

Sorry, made me laugh.

Yes, going to a bunch of agencies does take up your whole day. What's so funny about that?

I could be spending that time (traveling to agency, doing tests, etc.) actually looking for a job and dealing with prospective employers directly.

Hence, my point of this post, genius. I'm trying to hear some success stories with agencies and see if anyone here actually had a good experience with them and got a nice job out of seeing one.

Here's the point of my post, genius: Learn about leverage.

You can multiply your search efforts by devoting a day or two to visit agencies/recruiters and go through their candidate process.

Having yourself plus agencies/recruiters searching out jobs for you is far more likely to produce the result you're looking for vs. you looking alone.

Time well invested, I'd say.

Drake is a wonderful agency. Yes the testing will take up half of your day, but their placement rate is very very high.

I was placed by Syneron...while the job didn't stick, it was a good process.

Get your resume checked by someone who is in similar work field with you......It make a huge differnce and lots of people just underestimate the power of a good resume.

Yeah, I agree. Having multiple resources will definitely produce more results and the time is well invested.

I know about leverage and I never said I wouldn't go to an agency, cause i've gone to a few already and have a couple more to go to today.

I really just wanted to hear which ones(agencies) are good and which ones to avoid.
