I really like Deadmau5's music and was really suprised to see so many people who don't like it here; I kinda was debating on not going since you guys really were convinced he was bad. But then again I had bought my ticket 1 week earlier and was pretty serious about going !!
Got in the line at 3:45 and entered at 4:10; anyways MAUS set was intense and very good. When Deadmau5 took control of the DJM800 everyone yelled out JOEL JOEL JOEL !!! But some were like << who is the guy? >> I'm like it's Deadmau5; never saw him without the mouse head? They're like << oh no! damn he's cool! >>
I was glued to the dj booth with my friend observing Joel performing (i had that black hoody for those who saw me!) at 6:30 I went to the back to find my cousin and dance! I love his set; it was really incredible; don't go saying I'm stupid or wtv because If I liked it I liked it you know; everyone was saying how such an artist he is and how he has talents; the crowd was really into it and loving it.
I was impressed by his live set using ableton a djm800, 1 EFX1000 and a touch screen and another dj item I had no clue (white rectangularthing with orange button ... no its not a cdj)
All in all I had a blast and it was worth my money and my time; the crowd really liked it as I said .
Joel seemed kinda nervous when taking the controls of Stereo but quickly got confortable!
BTW that sound system is rooocking; is it funktion 1 ?? |

| I loved the set that Joel played at Stereo, that sound system was made for him, He killed it. The place was packed and I heard only positive feedback about it from everyone. I'm about to go back and read the rest of this thread now as I am a little out of the loop here, but I just wanted to say That the set was amazing. |

| some of the things you people say on this board make me want to run far far away from montreal and never come back. if you think the stereo system was made for deadmau5 you obviously need to get out more. |

Ok these reviews are not saying much at all. Anyone care to actually describe the music, mixing, track selection, flow of things etc..?
I didn't go because 1) I'm a not a fan of Deadmau5 2)I knew the place was gonna be packed up the ying-yang, and 3) Saving myself for Howells tonight. But I am interested nonetheless to hear how Joel's set was.
Anyone? :) |

Ok, So I don't know for sure but I was told both She and her boyfriend were up in the booth at the same time I was up there with Joel, Nothing was said to him and she had plenty of time to voice what she says she would have said. Behind a computer you're all big and tough but once you get face to face the story changes doesn't it.

He will definitely be booked again, the guys at Stereo were practically begging him to come back.

Just like Tiesto, the guy gets famous and everyone starts hating on him, It's jealousy. They didn't have what it takes so they hate on those that blow up instantly. |

I'll find out about that touch screen for ya, And come on... wouldn't you be nervous getting behind the Beast for the first time!? I was nervous just standing in the booth :S

That girl was me. And I have Absolutely NO intention of having Laser removal done. In my opinion the man is a musical genius, I'm proud to promote his sound by having his Mau5 tattooed on me.
Oh... And btw Stereohead, Maybe he did stop posting but I don't think it was because he realized that what you were saying was true. It was most likely because he realized that fighting with some airhead wasn't worth the little time he does have between sleep and work. So you don't like his music, big deal, you're entitled to your opinion just like I am mine, but don't go around trying to make others opinions based on yours. Humans are followers, If they hear that someone is a bad musician they're most likely not going to find out for themselves, they'll just agree so they "look cool"
As for Joel being a prick, I can tell you he is definitely not nearly as bad as you've made him out to look, Him saying What crawled up your snatch and died is just like the next person saying who pissed in your cornflakes. It's juast like saying What the hell is your problem. I think that maybe something did crawl up there and die if you got so offended over that. Grow up, my 4 year old is more mature than you're being! |
