Hey i've been trying to get into the trance scene and i realized i like it with vocals. i'd prefer if it's female vocals, but male voices work too. Paul Oakenfold - Southern Sun or Noemi - in my dreams
thanks in advance!!!!!!!!! |

vocals are what killed trance. Vocal trance is to easily mistaken for euro dance, infact there is no difference. Alice deejay could easily be considered Vocal Trance if you compare it to other stuff in the same genre. |

Go back and listen to the sets from the "Golden era" of trance in 99-01, listen to the huge DJs, listen to 1/3 or even sometimes 1/2 of their sets being vocal trance (Not all, but it was damn common). Hell go back to '95 and look at the "top tracks" there's vocal trance too.
Vocal trance has been there almost since the beginning, and dominated most sets in the hey-day, how the hell did it kill trance? (And if you count vocal samples as vocal trance and not just the songs with lyrical progression... well it's been there since day 1.) |

In the "hey-day" the vocal trance wasn't all the same sounds used with similar melodies though. but, maybe this is just a problem with trance in general. Even in the "hey-day" of trance vocal trance still sucked. I think i might be biased? |

Well vocals are very hard to do well so in general the genre is on average first. Also vocals create a different kind of atmosphere for the track. There are a few good vocal trance tracks (e.g. Iio-Rupture). I wouldn't say theres no good vocal trance... but theres not much of it and the quality control for the genre isn't very good. I wouldn't say theres no good vocal trance anyway.
Mainstream trance is pretty bad in general anyway. Vocals or not. |
