He is talking about the Victoria Day statutory holiday in Canada, which is commonly referred to as May 24th weekend (or even more commonly May two four, two-four being slang for a case of beer). See BTG, Victoria day is what we call a moveable statutory holiday, meaning it is not always observed on the actual day (May 24th). If you look at the statute it states that Victoria Day shall be observed on the 24th of May or the preceeding Monday.... since the 24th is a Saturday this year, the preceeding Monday (19th) is when you get the day off.
Seriously, how do you live this long in this country and not figure this out? |
