So I recently heard that Armin has a law degree & it got me wondering how he would function in the world if he were actually a lawyer. And this is the silliness that came out of my warped mind--
(obviously a slow day at work...)
The following takes place in an alternate universe, where Armin has decided to make use of his law degree and be a lawyer in addition to his night job. This conversation takes place in a courtroom in the alternate universe:
Attorney Van Buuren: Your honor, the defendant was clearly holding onto nothing. He didn’t know what he was doing because of the meds he was taking, which sort of put him in a state of trance. He felt like the sky was falling down on him, the big sky. Everything was just going wrong, your honor. My client was delirious, but who was watching—there’s no one watching.
Judge: Well I think we would need a second opinion on that. What he did afterwards was against the law, as we both know.
Attorney Van Buuren: I think my assumptions are good enough, your honor.
Judge: Mr. Van Buuren, you shouldn’t assume such things. If you should go—
Attorney Van Buuren: (eyes pop open) if you should go? Which one, the inpetto or aly & fila remix?
Judge: (rubs chin thoughtfully) well now that I think of it, the deadmau5 remix is quite catchy actually (catches himself and clears throat) ahem! I mean--what are you talking about?
Attorney Van Buuren: (looks tired and confused) I don’t know, your honor. I seem to be having a problem with communication. My 2 worlds seem to be having a mash-up, so to speak. But my argument is sound, your honor, as you shall hear. Sound, f—k it! (slams hand on client’s stand) and loud, louder than any drumbeat.
Judge: Mr. Van Buuren, you are in contempt. Approach the bench please.
Attorney Van Buuren: (approaches bench) your honor, what do you say we call it a day and work this out with 2 free tickets to Armin Only-Holland 2009?
Judge: (bangs gavel) They must be in my mailbox by Friday-case dismissed. Court will readjourn in ten minutes for the case of Attorney Tiesto vs the people in the case of the stolen bricks.
