1. The contest is being judged on originality of remix, not sound quality.

Need the midi files, even just for the lead!! Are there any programs that can extract the midi sequence from a wav file? Otherwise I guess its just trial and error trying to play it on the keyboard. :conf:

If you use Windows you should be able to google "wav to midi converter" or something. When I had Windows I remember finding a couple freebies and cheapies that didn't do a bad job.

Edit: I'm away from my computer (on my BB now) otherwise I'd post a link...and out of town with no access to Ableton and my controller until Saturday otherwise I'd hammer it out.

Looks like the winning track is going to (potentially) get an international release - good for exposure but not for your bank balance. Anyway, there's some goodies to be had from beatport for winning.......

Point #10 included for japan4....

meh...:(

Must say that I am getting a bit sick of this .
- You want to hold a remixcompetition, because,
- You want to discover new talent, on which,
- You can probably make a lot of money out.
And that you let us pay to download some damn samples!!!

You guys might disagree but I am getting so sick that we have to pay for the samples to enter a remixcomp. Indeed, the original track is included to, but if I don't want it. Is not like you can create a entire remix based on the two free samples you can download.

this, I ain't entering!!

Sorry for the faulty language ;)

Not gonna lie..."Far Away" is a one hell of a bland track. I love Giuseppe and Paul...but I was shocked at the out come of this track.

Hooray for the new "pay to remix" thing
thecYrus
the probably make more money with selling samples than with the actual tune :eyes:

which is exactly why I never enter these things. They are only there to make money for the label and Beatport/audiojelly etc. A proper remix comp would give us the samples free AND the midi files.

Its a shame because I believe some talented producers would be discovered if they did proper remix comps.

I agree. Although I haven't listened to much PVD, this track doesn't exactly make me want to explore further.
