If we have another 2005 huricane season this year that shuts down offshore oil rigs or damages them. much less the texas coast line with Exxon mobile and othe oil manufactoring plantes gas will also probably make $6 a gallon. and whats funny is we have had huricans before and this problem never accured. funny how greey people get when they can get away with it. my .02

you know, we have it way better than people in europe. ill start complaining when we have it as bad as they do. in my opinion, we need to start drilling in alaska again. screw the environmental wacks that keep us from doing it.

More like $2. Seen the Euro recently?

Europe's only pricey because they have no reserve to speak of that isn't in contested waters.

Personally, I'm surprised there haven't been gas riots yet; I'd figured Chevrons would burn once Unleaded hit $3 a gallon. We've gone soft since the Depression.

Europe. They don't spend anywhere near the same amount as we do securing oil supply and trade infrastructure on the global level through force or otherwise.

We've started and have attempted drilling in Alaska again (Appaloosa Project [our project with C.Phillips under the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Northeast Alaska]), and there's another one I cant remember now, but I'll post the name later. I know this company here already has a lease with some native company on an area in the Chukchi Sea, but the main problem that continues to arise is the climate and environment in and around Alaska. There are continued ice jams and floating crude.

Europe has MUCH better public transportation...

We really need a mass transit system here in the states connecting the larger cities. And that wouldn't need gas...

Not even close. Europe may pay a little more for a gallon of gas, but they have a public transportation system that works and can be used as an alternative. The USA on the other hand, does not. Gas is not a luxury as everyone wants you to think, it's a necessity in the USA.

And while they help, Zild hit the nail on the head.

There has always been drilling in Alaska on the North Slope, it's just not allowed in masses. But isn't the Appaloosa Project a joint venture between Conaco Phillips & BP to build a natural gas pipeline?

That's exactly right. If I'm not mistaking, in '04 I think they signed off for the project. In fact some of the hallways here have pictures framed up showing engineers, contractors, pipe designers, etc. on behalf of that project. This is the 4th project ever to have been merged in between and worked on by C.Phillips and BP.

I am still trying to find actual pictures of that project, because the size of those particular pipes are fckn insane (i'm talking STORIES in diameter). It's nothing like what we have here.
