Hard Drive Bad Sector Help

hey guys
im currently harbouring a 500gb wd hard drive with bad sectors n have LOADS and LOADS OF MUSIC and VIDEO N PERSONAL DATA . that wont let me copy through windows and a 3rd party dos program .
the hdd keeps going offline and wont let me re initialize. im on the verge of trying spin rite recommend by tech tv and it will somehow repair the bad sectors n look to fix it and let me copy my data to another 500gb n then throw the piece of out side
any ideas regarding the situation ?
please no sarcastic comments although i know ill get tons lol

i used getdataback and got most of my stuff back.
though mine was simple recovery from an HD which I formatted by accident |

Bad Sector = get data (and porn heh heh) off the HD ASAP! the more you actually try to use it, the worse it gets. Slave it, throw it on to an operable drive if you have to. I know it's an old manual process but normally works before it goes completely gone.
I have learned in the past, get a dedicated storage unit which I have mentioned in other threads, RAID5 the sucker and get a DLT backup, do a weekly backup with one tape, and an incremental backup every night with another tape. This is if all your data is THAT important to you. |
