i'm not so much arguing with you as i am telling you why you're wrong and the system is right. there really isn't any argument in the issue, which is probably why you've resorted to ad hominem digression :clown: |

agree to disagree, if the system was right, then why has this gone back and forth, back and forth. I dont forsee this ban being lifted til the years end. We will still spend millions of tax payers dollars recanting this court decision by lawyers of some lame religious group, and once again by 2009 same sex marriage will not be allowed. So id reccommend going out and getting married asap |

i was beginning to wonder when the gay jokes would come out
are you suggesting that because a highly political, highly contraversial social issue goes back and forth, the progressive decision made by the conservatively-populated supreme court is ultimately the wrong one? well , roll back black voting rights! the system got it wrong! all those back and forth court battles were there to show us blacks shouldn't vote and activist judges shouldn't give them the right to! |

Looking beyond the obvious social, moral and religious issues that arise due to SSM (same sex marriage)
There are still many opponets to the bill; what are your thoughts on using the marriage system to say; alter tax benefits.. A wedding between individuals, besides being recognized as a "legal union between two people" but the issue is much more debated by the opponets then the proponets.
People love to stick their own agenda and morality into these sort of issues. Is it right or wrong, has history painted this so black and white that the USA is against any sort of openess? or, so they think that Gay marriage is not only wrong but unconstitutional because this country was founded by deep rooted corrupt christian fundamentalists and history will triumph the law.
Eurotrip quote:
"You know America was founded by prudes. Prudes who left Europe because they hated all the kinky, steamy European sex that was going on. And now I, Cooper Harris, will return to the land of my perverted forefathers and claim my birthright."
is that not true? |

How do you think this should've happened? Isn't it the job of the state supreme court to decide the constitutionality of legislations/propositions? That's kind of what they're there for. If you want the legislature to legislate this, well, they tried. And then the governor vetoed it in order to give the court a chance to rule on the constitutionality. This happened twice. What is wrong with the process here? |
