Looking for a new mixer (pg. 2)

Hey Everyone

I can get pretty good discounts on Xone Mixers including the 92. If you guys want one lemme know, It can go cheaper if I buy in bulk, maybe like a group buy or something.

I had a Nuo 4 also pretty dope mixer and quality. It worked like magic along side Traktor, I used it like a controller and stuff and its intergrated into the software itself.

Here's a review i did of the DJM-800 for Audiomidi.com back in September of '06. My 800 has gotten more use out of it than I could have ever imagined and it still feels like i just took it out of the box. Most of the higher quality mixers will suit you just fine, I'd focus on picking the one that fills most of your needs.

Check out the Ecler series of mixers. Fantastic quality, on par with the Allen & Heath's and I believe are a bit cheaper.

I'm thinking of picking up an Ecler Nuo-4...or 5...whichever one doubles as a MIDI controller.

i'm selling my NUO4 for $500. it's boxed at home and haven't use it in a while since I got myself a Korg Zero4.

take it bas! :)

i guess its a matter of personal preference though, i'd take the pioneer mixers cuz they're more versatile.

The only thing the Pioneer series has going for it is the integrated mixer. The sound quality pales in comparison to that of the Xone series, this includes the 800. Every time I play on a Pioneer I can tell that the mid range is muddy and the bass never hits clear enough.

What about the cueing system bothers you? It's the same as the Pioneer :conf:

rene, just get the xone! I have a lot of experience with the pioneer mixers and at the clubs in Santa Barbara I am always mixing on Ranes....the Xone has better sound quality!

For the music you play I think a 4 channel 92 is the best, especially if you'll be playing records.

it bothers me that every time you want to cue 2 or more channels at once you have to press the cue buttons at the same time, and if you want to cue an extra channel the 2 previous channels you had cued will become uncued. for example if you wanna cue 3 channels at the same time on the xone you have to press all 3 buttons AT THE SAME TIME, as opposed to the pioneer where you can cue on and off. it annoys the hell out of me since i'm constantly monitoring in my headphones and im always cueing tracks on and off.

i also don't see much of a purpose for the extra midrange knob, i don't think it makes much of difference when eqing, but i dunno....

plus the new pioneers just feel a lot more comfortable to use (the knobs buttons etc), like i said its just a matter of personal preference. :)

a wise person once told me to just ignore one of the midrange knobs. hehe worked well for me. i used to be intimidated by the Xone 92.

Oh yeah, that actually is really ing annoying :p

I thought you were referring to the way you had to fade between the main and the cue or something...carry on :o

ps
The two midrange knobs don't make that big of a difference when equing. One handles the higher end of the mid range, and one the lower end. You can barely tell, but it's fun to pretend :D

Rene, in your case since you're coming from a Traktor DJ Studio Background, I would say get the Xone:92 as the deafult mixer on TDJS is the Xone:92. So adjusting to it would be second nature to you. If you have the mullah, go with the Xone. Other than that- the DJM-800 isn't too bad either.

Sound quality wise, you will love the 92 as well. I know that's pretty important to you. Good luck.

If you get a chance, check out the Xone 42. Packs the same punch as the 92 but it's a bit smaller. Not sure about the price though.
