AuraSF Progressive Experience 020 | Yoji & Sean Tyas

Our Guests this month are:
Yoji & Sean Tyas

Yoji’s powerful stage presence and performance, teamed with his unique style of dance music has made him one of the icons of the global dance movement. His unique fusion of music derived from the genres of Trance, Techno, Hard Dance and more, has disabled the ability of the press to keep up with his latest style. Internationally, Yoji’s productions released under his label HELLHOUSE are more popular than ever. On the remix and production front Yoji has worked with some of the worlds most respected dance artists. Yoji is an enigma, a DJ that when you see, you will understand why so many love and respect him. You will no doubt see that Yoji is on the forefront of making the world understand why a DJ’s performance is the most important part of the electronic music scene and why DJ’s are becoming the Rock Stars of our generation!

The distinctive Sean Tyas sound has captured the imagination of the trance community with the highest echelons of the trance elite such as Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, Judge Jules, Eddie Halliwell, Sander van Doorn and Above & Beyond amongst the heavyweight playlist support. Sean also has legions of fans at grass roots level, from message boards, budding DJs and radio listeners, a fact proven by his meteoric rise up the ranks of popular polls such as the DJ Magazine Top 100 and TranceAddict.com, as well as being awarded 'Best New Face' winner at the recent Trance Awards as well as #3 Best Remixer and #5 Best Producer, with Mixmag also awarding him #8 in their 'Best New DJs' at the end of 2007. The end of 2007 saw the latest trance bombs dropped from the Tyas camp, including the new singles 'Drop' on Discover and 'One More Night Out' on Armada, a remix of Thomas Bronzwaer 'Resound' for Vandit and two new compilation CDs 'Live As…USA' and 'Technoclub'.

How much will it be at the door? $20?

i think its highly likely that both Alain and James will have a guestlist. James had one last week for Gareth Emery and when i saw him with BT he had a GL as well. It being a thursday night i dont think they will sell out pre-sales.

so my curiosity was piqued and i decided to find a yoji set to hear what the fuss was about. i decided to host this one for the rest of you to listen...

Yoji Presents Airport 002 on VONYC - April 23, 2008

this guy is high energy, but i worry a bit too high energy for a thursday night at ruby. this is saturday night music f'sho.

Thanks for the link, gonna check it out... Yoji is def known for his hard trance. I think the night is really going to depend on people coming out that like that harder style as ruby doesn't really have a regular Thursday crowd... I don't think the regular Saturday crowd would "get it" which probably explains why they did Thursday.

YOJI doesn't always play fast & hard, but he's at his best when he does. When he plays slower (more housey) stuff, it's bleh compared to his trance.

He's one of the last few DJs I still need to see before I die and I will be in LA when he plays here!

To all you TAs, listen up! Much like, for example, the Super8 & Tab event at Mighty, believe that attendance this night will prob be more from haring about the event via word-of-mouth (friends) instead of flyers, emails, etc...We all know who Yoji B, but since he's had very little exposure to the USA (and none here in SF), chances are that most trance fans who keep an eye on things won't really know/understand who he is and what he brings.....so that's where we all come in! Convince your friends! Tell them to convince their friends! Post stuff on MySpace....express why, in your own words, people should go see him. Use the power of your personal opinion and try to convince peeps to come out that night!

I don't Mr. Yoji leavng SF with a bad taste in his mouth because the crowd was dead. It's already challenging enough with it being on a Thursday night, but his main style is something you don't see around here too ofte...that said, there is def a crowd in the bay area who would LOVEEE him...example? The asian crowd...love that hard, fast stuff. oh the basement at Ten15 in the good ole days.

With Ruby doing one 18+ event per month on a Thursday...and knowing are willing to do 18+ events, if I was organizing this I would have seriously thought about seeing if I could do that for his night. It seems like so many peeps I knwo who are 18-20 and into EDM love the faster, harder stuff...

I always seem to be doing this!! Most of my friends are not as in tune as I, so they do depend on my opinion to steer them in the right direction when it comes to dance musik! Sometimes I can't convince anyone to see the dj's I recommend, hence I find myself going alone tot he clubs, but I don't mind!

I'll spread the word on this one, and hopefully make more people as excited as I am about Yoji!
