Xbox360 / The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion ?

I'm thinking of buying an Xbox360 now that the price has significantly dropped. Currently I'm playing mostly on a Wii but I love RPG's too (Final Fantasy series etc.) and am kind of sick of the Wii missing out on the genre. Lately my eye fell on Oblivion.

Is this game worth all the praise it gets at review-sites ? Because I'm thinking of buying an X360 for this game alone and will get CoD 4, GTA4 and RE5 later.
I'd like to hear some impressions/experiences from you players first, now that the game has been on the market for quite a while :)

Oh; and should I get a standard 360 (€199) or a Pro version (€269)? I don't really know the difference yet; I've been mostly paying attention to Nintendo last years, lol.

Will your PC not run Oblivion?

As for the game itself... :eyes: :eyes: :eyes:

Still wish they'd overhaul the second one in that series though... [Daggerfall].

Oblivion is deffo worth getting for either PC or Xbox360.Awesome game.

You will never, ever finish Oblivion, if that appeals to you. You'll definitely want to finish it. But you never shall.

It's a ing beautiful game and if you like exploring things, you will adore it. I like the PC version for its mod-ability though.

Doesn't oblivion lag quite a lot on the xbox 360? Just buy an 8800gt... and 2 gigs of ram and qtp3 and you'll have a version of oblivion that looks way better (that allows mods) and lags less.

Oblivion is actually pretty short when compared to previous Arena titles.

you gotta clear the cache every once in a while and it'll work fine. but oh god, before i figured that out, yeah it ran slowly

The PS3 version is the best version. It came out later than the 360 version, and the developer Bethesda upgraded it a bit visually, it runs smoother, and has faster load times. But all that doesnt matter, its a really boring WRPG. Hopefully they do better with Fallout 3.

I found oblivion sucks with a custom class "I MUST NEVER SLEEP AND LEVEL" type attitude but I just picked a warrior class with a nice mix of abilities and sleep whenever it tells me too. Much, much more fun now. Maybe a bit easier then it could be but its better than being too hard.

why do you keep posting your pro PS3 bollocks when the poster wasn't after a response in relation to the PS3? the PC version of oblivion is easily the best, why bother arguing about it?

It probably has lower load times because xbox 360 has 2x the memory of ps3 so they most likely have lower res textures in it.

Hehe; PS3 isn't really in my price range and I'm not a graphic fetishist. PC version is unfortunately not an option; because it doesn't reach the system requirements :)

Yeah, I've heard you actually can't finish the game and that kind of appeals to me, but what about the gameplay time of the regular storyline (if that is applicable) ?

Cheers for the comments so far!
