How are bass farts made?

And I already know how to make real farts for those tempted to make the joke:toothless
More seriously, I was wondering how those bass pads and nappes were done. Some great examples of how those basses are used can be found in the following tracks:
Almost every Andrew Bennett release
Ohma - The Sun'll Shine
Marcus Schossow - Tears Behind Sunglasses
Can you guys give me pointers on how to make that (no presets please just a "general" fm or am synth recipe)? |

try four osc. saw synth, take two of them at one octave and pan each to left and right accordingly, then take the next two, do the same thing an octave below, make your synth envelope contain only 100 precent sustain, you may find it a bit harsh right now (the synth...) but dont you worry! write some notes to it, sidechain it with the kick (or just compress them togather, whatever works) add an EQ on it... and another thing, those usually contain a small amount of portamento...
hope this helps... |

Thanks, had to do some experimenting but that was mainly it.
Had to use a saw osc to modulate a sine osc (the saw osc was 7 octaves lower tho) |

i'm not very good at synth programming, but i always attributed this sound to pwm? at least that's what it sounds like to me in the second sample. |

yes, PWM will give you the detuned kinda sound, thats also a way (tho it usually referred to square waves...)... |
