Just doesn't seem right when one notices that people are paying ONLY $46 for a 4-hour Paul Van Dyk DJ set at Metropolis Aug 15th. PVD is a ing pioneer, even I can say that and I strongly dislike trance music. He created something...The production's gonna be off the hook too, if PVD's last show at Metropolis was any indication. 46$?! That's friggin cheap imo to see someone like PVD. Meanwhile, others are paying 100$ to see Tiesto in Quebec City (gotta think about travelling costs, hotels, food, etc on top of the 100$ for the ticket).
Oh and PS, I saw Sasha & Digweed, Sander K AND Spooky for a measley 60$. If event organizers can get all of them and charge only 60$, it makes zero sense to me that for one DJ it's 100$.
Are there even any other DJs on the Sensation Quebec line-up that would make me feel better about paying 100$? Or is he really the only one playing? I ask cuz I haven't seen or heard any other names being dropped or hinted at.
There, is that constructive enough? |
It could just be more of a matter of supply and demand. If there are enough people to fill the place, charge the highest price possible.
Looking at it from an economic standpoint, look at Bal en Blanc. They continue to charge slightly more every year and it's become so popular that it's sold to capacity the last couple years. Last year there was very little decorations or setup in either room compared to previous years. Really, there's no need for them to spend more money and incur more expenses when it will sell out no matter what now-a-days.
P.S. Erika don't use the Bal en Blanc has two rooms and tons of headliners argument because I'm not looking at it from that perspective; just the economic standpoint.
You're right though as far as amount and quality of DJs versus price of admission, that is expensive. Tiesto also hits a market that doesn't normally go to EDM events. Plus if there's nothing big in Montreal, more people that want to simply go to a "massive" that weekend will be willing to pay. |

They will fill the room no matter what but i gotta say that if they don't bring a good dj or a big name with him.... It's definitely not worth the 100$.
Why don't we know any other name yet btw? |

Happy for you dude; better than 100$ that's for sure.
But still, 70$ for ONE announced DJ is still fkn ridiculous. |

I was clearly not looking at it from an economic standpoint. I mean, except for my own economic purposes as in my bank account balance lol! 100$, even 70$ is alot of money for me. I never really do address economics of the scene man; Why would I? I'm a fan; not an owner/manager. I look at it from the public's point of view. Economics is not my territory cuz as I've said before, I know next to nothing about club's or event organizer's finances or how much money X person has to spend on X party.
Different perspectives, I get it :)
I'm sure SOMEthing besides this Quebec party will be happening in MTL; It IS labour day wkend afterall...If there's NOTHING going down in MTL, that's kinda sad.
Anyways, are there any other DJs playing at Sensation Quebec or is it just Tiesto? |

I toally agree, it is too expensive. I remember paing 75 $ last year for Sensation which had a huge lineup, same goes to Resolution and BNB even though it is a bit expensive but considering the number of Djs it is ok, Pay 100 $ for 3 hour set by Tiesto who will probably be late and then, WTF..I will see Ferry Corsten who in my opinion is even better at STEREO for probably the same time slot for 35 $. |

| I got my BeB tix this year for 80$ and i'm not planning on going next year... what was it 12 DJ's ? 8 of them international? but Tiesto for a clean brown bill means he's definitely overrated... the worst thing i find that could happen to an artist as an artist and not as a person is becoming as popular as tiesto.. who would've thought when traffic was bombing the floors that he would remix timberlake... who would've thought he'd include in his sets.. |

On Aly & Fila myspace, they're booked @ Circus on August 30th...I probably go there since i know tix will be cheaper...even If I want to go to Quebec...but i had my surprise last time i heard Tiesto in Montreal @ resolution...he came in late...spinned for 1:45 and left.
I forgot which dj was after him...but I believe they could make Tiesto spin longer and cut on the other dj time...cuz we PAID for the tix and for at least 3 hrs of Tiesto. |
