me too. I really hope they can beat the Netherlands, but I am not naive either. I know that they have been playing really well this season, and have a good chance to just school our team. We will see. Only 2 days till the game. |

Well Netherlands have been playing pretty steady football. But Russia has looked better with every game. I'm sure if they went back to play Spain now the result would be much better.
Guus mentioned that we were a bit naive (young) and full of ourselves in the opening match and didn't put the focus and determination needed in a big match like that. They quickly turned it around against Greece and ground out a huge 1-0 win. And against Sweden I think our confidence was restored and we didn't play with big heads either.
Also, everyone is capable of having a bad day. I've seen big teams lose random matches (for one reason or another) all the time. I'm not saying that's Russia's only chance and that's all the squad should be looking for. We should definitely come out and give the Dutch a run for their money. What I am saying is that anything is possible, and I'm not writing Russia off just yet. If they come out strong and Netherlands lose their composure it can finish in our favor.
I do know this for sure, I will be DRUUUUUUUNK on Saturday regardless of how it ends. |

I fully agree with everything you said, and have the same view of not writing Russia off yet. I am just hard pressed to be so optimistic that we will do it. Not that we can't, as we have a lot of talent and the way they are playing has drastically improved, but is that enough?
LOL nice. You won't be watching it at 12pm though as I will be. So being drunk at 3pm isn't all that big of a deal. |
