True. I guess this is how I would split it up;
Hating on an object or event is an opinion and you can hate hate hate on that without any jealousy or retaliation required (but it does still fall into those categories sometimes).
Hating on a person ALWAYS falls into those categories, IMO :) either directly or indirectly. |

P.S. Rach, I don't agree. I think hate towards a person/people can exist without jealousy/envy, and free of it being in retaliation (though, again, I would agree that those reasons are the majority). |

Hm...lol that's tough. I dunno...I'm just thinking along the lines of clashing personalities and the fact that no, we CAN'T all get along. Speaking personally, I sure as hell don't like everybody I meet - but perhaps hate is too strong a word to use in that instance.

Personality clashes - I would class that as retaliation. I don't know I clash with someone until they say something to PISS ME OFF!

I HATE stupidity too - HATE HATE HATE. But I still class that as retaliation. I hate stupid people in retaliation to their ignorance. |

I think some people are just born to bang heads with certain people, you can do your best to stay civil and professional about it, but the tension is always there.
I think I'm a laid back, approachable, friendly guy but I have met people and within seconds without even saying much or anything at all you can feel this tension. In that case I just keep on walking and forget about it, why TRY to win someones friendship.
