STOP ESSO and help save the earth

Greenpeace has launched a campaign against ESSO.

They are the biggest polluters in the world, and they lobbied the American Government to pull out of the Kyoto Protocol. They did this to keep their profits high. The result, is increased global warming on our planet. They put their pocketbooks, over your future.

Esso contributed 5 times as much to the republican party than Enron.
They make the worlds dirtiest gas, 30 times dirtier than allowed by law in california.

well, a valid point, that greenpeace is biased.

but, CNN is biased, the commercials you watch on TV are biased, in fact everyone is biased to their point of view.

the best way to find out the truth is to get your information from a VARIETY of sources, and form your own conclusions.

and since ESSO spends billions of dollars advertising their point, greenpeace has to be there to provide the counterpoint. greenpeace doesn't have the financial clout of ESSO, so they rely on grassroots activists to spread the word.

I'm not saying greenpeace is the best organization in the world, nor do they have all the answers.

but, if you think the mainstream media is.. well

I hope the wool is keeping your eyes nice and warm :)

nono...no wool over these eyes. all i ment is that you need to look at all types and sources of media, not just mainstream and not just underground. you need a healthy mix of all in order to get ll the facts.

and the fact is that while oil companies are big huge monoliths that hold a lot of power and get off with a lot of harm done, they are also backbones of the economy making it possible for a lot of things to exist (good and bad). but they are also looking at alternate fuel sources for the future. shell for instance is investing billions of dollars into hydrogen fuel cell research.

now look, i know i got off topic with that oil company rant there... the whole point of this point and my original point was. dont just look at one side of the story. you need a viriety of sources to get the entire picture.

yes, a variety of sources.. that's exactly what i said.
(except i spelled it right.) :)

anyhow, we are obviously on the same side of the fence on that one.

here is ESSO's point of view for conversations sake:
http://www.esso.co.uk/eaff/essouk/n.../response2.html

if you ask me it sounds like a pack of lies, that is the conclusion i have came to after looking at all the sources available to me. feel free to draw your own conclusions.

as for gas companies being a backbone of the economy, well, sure they are, but, how long will that last? and what cost are we paying for it? soon, this planet will be out of fossil fuels. think about that for a moment. it's not just oil and gas for our cars.

even if we aren't carelessly burning it for fuel, we will still need it.

all sort of things use fossil fuel, among the most important, lubrication oil(even windmills need lube), and PLASTIC.

geez, even my beloved records are made out of plastic!

not to mention that the global climate is increasing at a steady pace, and our protective bubble of ozone is eroding away at a faster rate everyday. i wonder about our children, will they even be able to go outside?

and finally, about shell.. yes they are developing fuel cells. this boycott is not against shell, it is against esso, because esso is NOT helping to make clean fuels. it is making fuel cells, but guess how they are filling them with energy? gasoline.

sorry, i tend to get fanactical about this, someone needs to take a stand.

I have faith in the Biblical message which states that God will bring to an end those ruining the Earth.
