Hey guys
Ive done some searching and reading up on basslines lately because theres a specific kind that I'm trying to pull off, but am lost in the notation.
I've tried the arp, rolling style and I don't think it's what I'm after. An example of the kind I'm after can be heard in Digital Nature's track Inspiration found in the bottom of the player here: http://www.myspace.com/digitalnature
I don't want to produce a track like that, but I've heard basslines similar or exactly like the kind used in that track before, and it would really fit what I'm creating right now, but I can't figure out where the notes go for something like that.
Any help, thoughts, ideas would be great, because I would love to play around with it once I finally understand whats going on there.
Thanks! |

Can't access myspace at work, but if you want to upload a sample somewhere I can take a listen or check it when I get home. |

What sound do you mean exactly?
those bassy stabs? in the background?
I'll take a weird guess that they are a patch of 303 slightly edited...with a high attack time...and they hit on every 8th bar (or so) if you set up your envelopes right it should be about 1/4 bar long I think.
the rest of it sounds to me like a really usual offbeat 1/8ths bassline...maybe I am wrong though...listening on work speakers now :) |

cool, thanks for the help, ill def look into that.
it sounds like there's maybe 8 bass hits every bar??? two every half bar, with one hit being a little higher than the other? You can hear it best when the kick drops out.
iv played around with this so much, i cant get it quite right...but ill def be trying out suggestions :)
THANKS! |

Yeah sounds like a triple note bassline, play around with velocity and note length to give it a little movement.
Also this track was made by digital nature + onova and he posts on here so he may reply :p |
