i am a massive fan of trance or EDM. but real trance lately has become bollocks. theres no feeling whatsoever. partly due to the wave of bedroom producers that have taken over and partly due to the lifeless drab tech-trance/electro guff.
it seems to be stuck up its own arse. with the most important factor being compression and other technical stuff. it also sounds too manufactured. it has no soul basically, goosebumps are a thing of the past.
i am finding that if u want decent music u need to go back. having lived on 'classic' trance (the 99 type) for the last couple of years. i know them ALL inside out. so now i go back even further.. iam impressed with these older tunes especially with the lack of a pounding beat that takes prominence in new trance. the 4/4 beat should only be there to maintain rhythm. not take centre stage and ruin the rest of the tune. it should be weak in my opinion and in almost every older tune, it is.
trance to me is dead. has been for a year plus. thanks in no small part to the GTA series i have found some amazing older tunes that have everything new trance is missing. and is more organic versus the sickly sounding "perfect" new EDM style. the simple stuff is 10 times better!
i suppose its called house or detriot house or soulfull house..
can anyone recommend similar tunes to these..

| class man, three of they tunes from the your list are in GTA - adonis, marshall jefferson and voddoo doll. thats where i found all the tunes on my list except the todd terry mix, that aint in GTA. wonder who compiles the tunes for the game, amazing! |
