for those that are saying that 1234 is 16 years old people, you should have come yesterday, we had some of the biggest clients that run around the city that i know with a super mature clientele.

i guess i'm one of "those" people so...

first of all, i did go to the club- maher was playing the VIP upstairs 10pm-1230am. i didn't go to his gig but from what i know, all people were asking him to play was david guetta tracks (quote from a dude) and some run DMC/hiphop...WOW!!!

i got to the club with ned around 1245am...i've never been talked to so disrespectfully by a bouncer as ned and i were spoken to that night...my god! we're patiently waiting to be taken inside and he asks us, "what do u think u guys r doing here?" well, last i checked buddy, this is a club, and we're waiting to be taken inside. he's like, "Who do you know" to both me and ned. so we tell him allllll the seemingly absolutely necessary information: who we know, that maher's inside playing and he happens to be my boyfriend, we know the people who are producing this event, ned's opening for sharam at stereo, etc etc etc. he completely disregards us and walks away. nice one dude. 1234, get some ing quality staff, like, that speak respectfully to their clients. your bouncers are disgusting and waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too high on their horses. you work at ing 1234, chillax there deuschebag.

maher came and ushered us in...i wanted to see what this "live" act was all about. ummmm, so the opening DJ was pretty horrible imo; not exactly the kind of DJ i envisioned opening for sharam at all...the commercial tracks he was playing weren't my cup of tea but besides that, his mixing was not tight at all + zero flow and of course, he thinks he's a superstar behind the decks...his bpm was probably upwards towards the 128-129 mark which opening DJs shouldn't dare go to when opening for someone like sharam. i didn't see anything live but i left after his "be the change" opening track. so, someone fill me in on just how "live" this performance was. i heard there was a violinist at some point? any confirmations?

as for the set-up, the big white circular screen just filled up space w/o any interesting visuals while the haystacks in combination with the humidity started to smell like a farm. and those horns or whatever they were sticking out onto the dancefloor poked at least 5 people while i was standing by the steps that lead up to the booth. ing drunk kids hehehe :p

so about the age range...seriously, seriously, SERIOUSLY!!! on the dancefloor, i saw MAYBE 5 people over the age of 21. in back of the booth, another 5 people over 21. the dancefloor was FILLED with children under 21; i even overheard a group of TEENAGE guys/girls saying that they were dying to hear "say hello" on a big system. i left at like 120am or something...to head to stereo.

i dunno where all these "old" people were that you guys saw. guess i missed them. anyhow, it was a coolish night/event/production for people UNDER 21, even 18...definitely not the greatest production (mainly set-up/musically speaking) i've seen produkt pull off but it was a huge success nonetheless and i'm super happy/proud of them for that :) keep em coming, produkt peeps ;)

oh wow...ya, like i said i left at 120am...

cuz 1234's highly mature, above 25 yr-old, oh-so cool clientele does those kinds of things, right? ing kids...

i love how the promoter seemingly failed to mention that part in his review LOL :p
Allied Nations
what's wrong with a little dance off? :tongue3
fullhouse
breakdance on edm would look just as dumb as tap dancing with timbs

We call that '' Tecktonik '' for your personal information, and miss stereohead, how can you start rating the night if you only listened to two of his gigs wtf honestly wow ! Be the change was the 2nd track he played, and i dont think we saw the same king of people inside or where you were sticking in ! For myself, ive sell tickets to 30+ aged people plus saw some montreals icons such romeo and a couple of club owners/managers that have pass during the night. The violonist performance was numero uno, everybody was asking for more. And what's the point of talking about the dj playing inthe vip rom lol.... wow. Anyways, ive only got great feedback about this night, and i know that some of our staff people are arrogant with poeple sometime, but they are like that with the big heads or arrogant people also. They just dont give to people for nothing, they do try their best.

lol stereohead, totally agree with your review stereohead. That place, like almost every other night club in town, is filled with 15-16yo kids who go clubbing just to get drunk and waste their parents' money, and i dont blame them, i guess thats whats clubbings all about. They dont care about they music, not they know anything about it, these girls u overheard talking about "say hello" says it all. Im sure that if you put let say masiello, sasha or digweed on a random night in any club, ppl wont even notice and wont care, thell just keep getting drunk, unaware of the god thats playing for them. Thats y i dont go clubbing anymore, hate it. After going so much to afterhours and learning to really appreciate the music and knowing what its all about, you go clubbing and realize how crappy the music is. + theres no vibe, that totally kills it for me. Anyhow, point is, no big artist should come to a club (in montreal anyways, afterhours are the place to be ((())).
but erika, how was his stereo performance, much better i guess?

What the is wrong with girls enjoying "Say Hello" ?

Seriously ...

At least they are interested in a way into EDM

When say hello got released, it was hot

Now 3 years later its not "cool" that they wanna hear him play it ?

Common

You gotta understand kids asking for guetta & hiphop

The vip section is usually hip-hop top40

The guy who is a regular doesnt give a that maher is a great dj

He wants to hear what he usually hears and makes him spend money

What makes his friends drink / scream / have fun

He wants to party

Which is mainly the goal in clubbing

Music is very important for some of us, but lets not use it to bash other peoples tastes

When you play a room that is usually not your style of music... you gotta understand people's expectations coming into the room they are in every week

And im sure maher knew that when he started to play

Louis is super right, anyways, you should have been there when he played say hello at 3h15 to close his set, people were jumping all over the place and turned nuts, and you have so much behaviours on clubs, go to Times, Opera, Tribe thursdays, even us 1234 which we use to have a super young crowd were taking it back to what it use to be, but stop bullting the crowd that cant afford to be ed for 3 days after having beeing on pills till 11AM, and enjoy what the nightlife has the best to offer you.

fullhouse
i'd have to disagree
you're going to the wrong clubs
the baller clubs arent where its at if you want the vibe i think you do

go to cherry, salon daome, the SAT every now and then same for tribe and opera when they host edm names you like

SAT & Metropolis are 2 clubs that appeal to a wide-ass spectrum of tastes (filling up 4 ARia) and if you've been, you can't deny the vibe

.. but if you're narrow and you enjoy the (((Stereo))) type sound sole, then cherry should tease your fancy, unless music is not your only reason for partying at sunrise...

The crowd at 1234 isnt gonna change because of one night

Theres nothing wrong in having younger people in a club... they enjoy themselves even more than older people

The point is... to each place their "raison d'etre"

Some clubs appeal to younger people... some to older

If you put a show with sharam with a club that usually has a younger crowd on fridays, dont expect it to turn into a 25+ in a night

Youre a promoter there... youre 19 or 20 ?

Dont tell me more than 20% of the people on your list are 21 and over... im not stupid hehe

And yes indeed a lot of people from the industry probably showed up since Deep Dish is oldschool

But as i said... its a special event... next friday is gonna be back to the regulars who didnt want to pay 30$ to get in...

And theres nothing wrong about it
