i work in a financial institution and people get these all the time. a few of our members have fallen for it. the way it works is you get said email, and then you reply with all your personal info. they make everything look really legit and say that in order for them to wire the lump sum to you, that you need to wire to THEM a few thousand pounds for tax purposes.
after that, sometimes they even go as far as replying back saying that there was some sort of error and that you're really the winner of an even BIGGER jackpot. again, you need to wire a few more thousand pounds for the rest of the jackpot that you just won, and that's when they magically disappear!
