The best anti-virus anti-spyware program on the market, you can download their trial version to fix the problems you're having now. Worth every penny.

Contrary to what you believe, it is actually a horrible choice.

I recommend also firewall to be installed.

Firewalls have been proven to not be very effective, as most people don't fully understand how to use them properly, which therefore causes them to turn them off. And really, as you can tell, he has multiple computers, and therefore has a router which has a firewall built in. No need for a software firewall. ;)

During a refresh rate change it isnt advised you reboot your comp or your gfx settings might be fubar. Next time on reboot tap f8 till a screen comes up to boot into safe-mode. Boot into safe-mode with command prompt and then change the res that way to the lowest refresh and resolution as possible. Reboot and you should be able to change it back to normal.

Wrong. Changing the refresh rate is unable to be done with LCD monitors if it isn't expressly supported. This isn't the days of CRTs that allowed it even if it wasn't supported. You can NOT override the refresh rate anymore.

Alfi: Just run nod32 3.0.642.0 with the patch. You can get it all over. I run it and have no problems.

well if you read the end post it was fixed and this was around december. For a month or so i was squabaling what to do without reformatting so I found this site and well the rest is history and this was around dec/jan and since then my computer has never ran any better and efficient.

PS. if you thought that was bad wish you knew me in college. I remember having a couple of worms, 2 viruses, had to reformat about 5 times and must of restart/shutdown without windows exiting over 1k times :eyespop: sometimes you gotta deal. I wonder if I made a thread back then describing what happend lol if I find it

haha was that you!? I knew about a couple of those tools, but I am so used to manually cleaning, I didn't know about those tools that did it for him. I have had to do manual cleans way too many times. I could be considered an old fart in that sense, even though I am only closing in on 25.

the final word to me or anyone I hope is reformatting. When you do that you need to reload everything you had and well before you reformat you need to save tons of data that actually might be infected. Thats one reason that site I suggested saved me that!

oh yeah Memories :p

I love to format...kind of. I like a nice clean windows install, I just hate having to reinstall everything..BUT there is a solution to that. Get an old like 4gb hard drive, and just do a new install of windows on it. Install all the programs you usually do, update it to as current as you can, and then use an imaging program (Norton Ghost comes to mind) and image it. Never have to reinstall again. You just put the image back on your machine, and you are good to go. So convenient.

And LOL about the mp3 virus'. I had a friend in HS that got one. Such a bitch to remove.

haha it is all about what is relevant to daily life. Most college courses aren't really relevant to daily life, and are long forgotten because they aren't really useful.

couldn't he just partition the drive to 4gb and just install windows on that partition? then partition the rest of the drive to his needs (Production, Games, Ect.)

at least that's what i did :p
