I am considering maybe upgrading my DSL modem. I have a cheap Westell 2200 that was given to me by AT&T maybe 5 years ago. I notice pretty often when my internet gets sluggish that if I unplug the modem for a few seconds, and then reset it, my internet speeds many times doubles.
Could it be that my modem is just shot after working 24/7 for so many years? Would you guys recommend buying a new modem, or is this just a regular issue with the ISP?
If this is an issue with the modem itself, do you people have any recommendations of any particular models? It doesn't seem like there is too much out there for dsl modems... |

Call up or visit your ISP and request for an upgrade of the modem.
As far as I'm aware there seems to be more variety in Cable Modem's than DSL modems. So you might be SOL trying to find a decent one at your local retailers. |
