now, the point progressivemojo is trying to convey here is that Texas needs more diversity in terms of electronic dance music. In other words, all the money is going to big trance djs instead of lesser-known djs or more eclectic performers.
Exhibit A.
You pay x amount of money to bring in AVB. You then get a warm up dj that has 'something to do' with the genre Armin is playing, right?
well, what about...
Use x amount of money to bring in Zip, Matthew Dear, Ivan Smagghe - instead of only investing in ONE big dj.
The problem - texas does not have an educated scene to know that Ivan Smagghe stands for Blackstrobe (Yes you can that nazi trance off) and/or that matthew dear is Audion/False (and from Texas).
So the big promoting companies work on the safe side and to their advantage, because in Texas the electronic business is focused on EDM (Trance) not european Techno.
However, it's surprising to see that Henry (Chow) has enough balls to throw down some pretty impressive parties in Austin with people like Agaric, now if only there were more people like him doing more stuff in Texas - we'd all be happy with our scene. But, we all have to live in one big room where there is no diversity IMO.

Promoters have to book who will sell best. Don't blame them...blame the fickle-ass crowds.
Also, ProgMojado doesn't have to be such an arrogant douche when posts. I expect my music snobs to reek of Enriqueness. Bluntly honest, but respectful. |

true were not the most educated in EDM but there a more reasons than you may know as to why there not coming around other than just the promoters are not booking them.
also 77002 consist of 2 main people. one of thems like trance one of them like house and is a house dj. so to say they dont want to book house djs is WRONG.
all i can say to Joto is to book the people he wants and you will quickly learn there is more to it than to just say i want this dj and i want that dj and you find a club your wanting to put them in. oh there is not one. Im not sure if you have any idea how much sound systems cost for a club but a good system starts about 200,000 and can go up to 700,000 yeah no bull. so please learn some more about what it takes to make a nice club and what it takes to be a promotion company before you think you know it all about doing it. |
