Hey guys, my close friend is having a fundraiser and is having an all day live band show, he's asking me to DJ in between acts like when a band is taking their stuff up and another one is setting up. It's rock music bands. To be honest I don't really know what to play in between acts. Play some rock songs? I would play some house songs but that might be outta place? Iuno any input guys? Thanks.

I'd say you can safely not play ANY edm.

Maybe Prodigy. Maybe.

Stuff that I would think that would go over well in any rock setting:

ACDC
Black Sabbath
The Clash
David Bowie
Stones
Nirvana
Soundgarden
Tool
Pearl Jam
NoFX
Weezer
Queen

You know, general classic rock/recent alterna/indie rock. Its just filler stuff, but play songs people know by bands people know.
Just rip the playlist from Q107 or The Edge. And the mixing is fairly irrelevent. Just have everything at the same pitch (ie: no adjustment necessary, 0 pitch adjustment) and crossfade to the next track.

Make sure you have plenty of tunes to cover their ass in case of technical problems, bands not showing up, the usual calamity.

Most people will go for a smoke, etc. between bands anyways.

Some of the new indie-electro type stuff (eg: Ed Banger and Boys Noize) would probably work well if its a more hipster crowd. Daft Punk, Chemical Brothers, Prodigy are good options too.

Oh yeah, that works too. Stuff like Justice, or MSTRKRFT

i'd play minimal/chill/tech. i dont think justice or boys noize would go over well, but that's just my opinion. some mainstream daft, chemical brothers, etc would be good i guess... i have done setbreaks before and i always just played chill music while the band went out and mingled/got drunk. nothin like lettin 2 minimal tracks play together. you can create some sick kinky blends. it's a less over-the-top way of getting the crowds attention. don't think anyone would say "this guy sux" if you were playing minimal. play some justice and i'm sure half the people there would be like "what the is this guy doing?". just my 2 cents...

good luck either way :)
