| Areed that Elite XC has some work to do. I wasnt very impressed with the way they handled a lot of things. UFC still has the best fighters on TV right now, and the KIMBO idea was a joke. He has a big name, and marketing-wise, it was a decent choice. But to say that he is a MMA is amusing to say the least. :stongue:  |

The UFC is the premier organization right now, but there are some other great ones out there...
Check out 'Dream' out of Japan (formerly Pride), as well as the newly formed "Affliction." Affliction's first card is on July 19th...they have an amazing roster so far, including Fedor, the most dominant guy in MMA right now. |

I felt like I was watching a wrestling event instead of MMA on Saturday night with the stupid flashy intros and fireworks. Spent way too much time doing nothing between fights.
Who's Kimbo Slice?
WEC on the other hand, both title fights were incredibly entertaining.
Torres/Maeda was a fun one, shame it had to end with the swollen eye.
Faber deserved the win, Pulver had a few opportunities that I think he could have followed up on that he didn't. Still can't believe he stood standing throughout that onslaught from Faber.
I won't be buying 85 next weekend, but I'm definitely going out to watch it.
Totallllly agree. I'm a fan of Gina, always delivers an entertaining fight, but boy was that bull they didn't pounce on her about that. Sounds like she'll be stopping American Gladiators now so she can dedicate the proper amount of time to training. |
im in luv with gina. gonna ask h er to marrie meez pleez!!!
she is a girl there not gonn bug about weight to her...the other guy was fighting for a championship there are two differnet things.

I definitely don't agree with that. Gina is much more well known right now then Travis was back then. She is a bigger embassador of the sport. She is hot, but she needs to bust her ass like everyone else and make weight. And Lutter came in like a half pound over when all was said and done. Gina was 5 pounds over... Thats just disrespectful. |

well doesn't she have to be heavier for the gladiators. it must be hard to gain weight and then lose it :conf:

thats her decision though, if she wants to be an American Gladiator and gain weight. And male MMA guys are known to cut as much as 15 pounds in a 24 hour period to make weight. If Gina wants to be part of (generally speaking) a man's sport, she needs to suck it up and put in the work that the guys do.
but yes, she is hot....

How do you mean, "disrespectful" ? |
I think he meant she didn't take losing the weight seriously, she didn't give a giving up some of her purse to the competitor for being overweight. I could be wrong but I think the opponent can decide whether or not they want to take the fight with someone who hasn't made weight. |

she had to forfeit a % of her purse to the girl she fought. Technically the girl she fought could have refused the fight, but there was no way she'd do that, simply because she was given the oppurtunity to fight on CBS against the biggest female fighter in the world. If she refused the fight, chances are she wouldn't get another chance at Gina.
By disrespectful, I just mean to say that Gina didn't take the fight that seriously. She is the biggest name in female MMA right now (not the best though.) Coming in 5 pounds overweight is kind of a slap in the face to people that take MMA seriously imo. |

I'm still finding it difficult to see how anyone can take Kimbo seriously. He's a marketing gimic. Anyone with legitimate MMA skills can and will beat him.
A ref calling the fight on a busted ear is pretty ridiculous, by the way. A shame that a fight can be decided that way, but it happens. |

| When a fight is taken to the ground you can definitely feel 5 pounds. |
