OK I'm not after any help on this just venting some anger.

Ive got the whole day to myself to get on with some tracks which is rare for me these days. Ive only just got sa viurs and its screwed my pc. So now im spending the day trying to fix it.

Why is it everytime i have some time to get on with things something always gets in the way, mainly being this bloody PC. I had so many ideas to try out and projects to get on with and now im running Anti virus scans etc.......to say im pissed off is a big understatement.

aarrggghhh!!!!!!!!!!

He means next time wait until after you're finished the track before you go looking for pr0n.

Seriously, viruses don't just randomly attack computers, you have to pick them up. I've got no sympathy for the careless.

Sounds harsh, but +1.

I never had virus protection software when I ran XP and never had a single virus. I know several people in the same boat - and know several others who get one every several months, even with virus protection. It's about your browsing, email, and security habits more than anything else... not by accident (or never that I'm aware of).

I agree, i never heard of someone just randomly getting a virus, if we look at where viruses come from; the majority is either porn or illegal software.

Worms can randomly attack a PC, that's the way they work. They randomly scan ports untill they find an open one. A firewall or NAT firewall (network router) stops them pretty easilly though. Worms are kind of old school now, but they are still around. One important thing, always get the windows updates. If you don't have those, you're vulnerable. You can get some bad stuff just from web browsing. Just having an unpatched version of internet explorer on your PC makes you vunerable, even if you don't use it.

We can't forget the random hacker, they are always scanning for open ports. If you leave a port scanner running all night, you'll get scanned, or attempted scanns, more than a few times. If they gain access to your PC and network, they can do some damage. You need to have your defenses up all the time.

unless you're running a web server or something, pure network based attacks don't really work in this day and age.

I have never had a virus on my computer (accept the access :clown: ), and I to never had a scanner on my computer.

I have a seperate computer for my music, and it is not connected to the internet. Maybe you can try that!

Ah i thought he meant that but i was too annoyed with my pc to see his point.

It wasnt p0rn, but it was my fault. I was setting up a virtual network and needed some windows software, used a site for the serial, never got one from there before but I was aware it could happen. I was more annoyed at the timing of it all not that my pc was screwed. Any other day I wouldnt have minded. I lost a whole day.....Oh well lesson learnt!
