When he's gonna buy new records? For the love of god, someone please give him some new CDs. I'm tired of listen same every week. Don't tell me you don't. |
I'm still not understanding how the rebroadcasts are Oakenfold's fault??
Yes its crappy for us to hear the same set week after week but if the radio station is airing the exact same mix under a different name, that has nothing to do with Oakey. However, I haven't taken the time to listen to all the sets to ascertain whether they are the exact same but i'll assume they are except for the Sirius voiceovers...if i'm wrong about that, by all means feel free to correct me.
I do agree that Oakenfold really needs to start using more of the records at his disposal in his mixes. As one of the most well known DJs in the world, he is probably sent 100s of high quality white labels each week which would bring his sets to a fresh new level. I've got no problem with him playing one or two classics in each set but the other 15+ tunes need to be fresh otherwise he risks losing the interest of the listeners. In that respect, Oakenfold has let himself down with the Perfecto On Tour series as he has had a golden chance to push some new and upfront progressive tracks. Some of the sets have been very good with some outstanding tunage but the repetition of tracks in other sets have ruined things. |

I'm still not understanding how the rebroadcasts are Oakenfold's fault??
I have to say that you are very naïve if you really think that rebroadcast is not Oakenfold's fault. One way or another, its his fault. First, as everybody knows, Oakenfold signed a contract with Area 33 in the first place. And if he doesn't deliver first episode almost two years ago, how Area 33 could broadcast any set mixed by Oakenfold? Nop. They broadcast what Oakenfold send them, beign wether Oakenfold or his team. But if his team doesn't response profesionally, it is also his fault, because he is the one who contracted them. So, one way or another, he is responsible for not to have a profesional supervisor that gives him informs of what happened. Or, have you out there listen another DJ that present this same problem with his broadcast for two months in a row? I don't know you, but this is definetively not a problem of radio station, but the DJ.
Yes, there are some rebroadcast of many DJs: Sasha has many sets with different name; the same thing happened with Ferry Corsten, etc. But, think in another great weekly radio show. Matt Darey's Nocturnal. There are no one a single episode repeated in more than two years of weekly broadcasting. Think in A State of Trance, Corsten's Countdown, Global, Trance Around the World, and best underground weekly show: Transitions. Non of this weekly show has never repeated a single episode. So don't tell me its not Oakenolds fault, because if is not his fault, how could be Area 33 fault's?
Whatever Oakenfold is doing, is doing wrong: miscare his radio show. If he isn't able to make a weekly show every week, as all the rest of DJs, with new tunes, a littel of generosity to other DJs as almots everybody do in his shows, and yada yada yada, he must quit his contract with Area 33 and reborn from his ashes.
I must say that I'm tired of letting messages in his web page, but it is so obvious that he cannot read any massages from thousend of visitors, many of them with very moronic messages.
And of course, we have earned an apologize from him. If we make critics in this matter, is because we care about him, not because we think, "Ah, what the heck..." The only thing we can say, according with Funkagenda, is "What the ". |

From espresso1967 himself:
| quote: | | Ok it is now a confirmed problem with Oakenfold's show. On Friday, Sunday and Monday's they have been playing re-broadcast shows. Example last Friday's show even though the host say's it is from Recife, Brazil they play like last month's show from a different location than the Brazil set. Now for the third week in a row, they air the real set on Wednesday the last day of re-broadcast shows of that week. So this is the real deal I have taken the time to listen and it is different from Friday's show. |
Now...I may be 'naive' but not enough to think that Oakenfold is pressing the buttons at Sirius Satellite radio. He's not the one making the mistake of rebroadcasting the same set time after time.
Instead of being naive by leaving messages for Oakey which you already know won't get a response, why not contact Sirius and ask them why someone in their pay thinks their listeners won't notice them broadcasting the same set for 2 months? If and it's a big IF Oakey or one of his assistants didn't provide the sets as per agreement, then that would reflect very badly on Oakenfold as he hasn't fulfilled his responsibility. However, it also reflects poorly on Sirius as they're opting to play that SAME set week after week. They have enough Oakenfold mixes to at least offer a little variety but instead, they have knowingly edited the same set with a different voiceover and pass it off as being from a different location. Do they really think their listeners are daft enough to fall for that?
Lots of ifs and buts at the moment but no real facts except for the fact Sirius have been screwing around with rebroadcasts.
But don't tell me, that's Oakenfold's fault too? ;)
I'll gladly take your side if it does turn out for a FACT that Oakenfold has not be keeping to his agreement and if that does turn out to be the case, he would definitely owe people some apologies.
He really does need to start spinning some new tracks though ;) |

I think we are all agree with the last part of your post. Concerning the whole other previous one, we all can talk and talk, but the fact remains the same. We need Oakenfold back and in great shape. It will happened in next weeks? I hope so! |

Don't get mad. Nobody has say something about Oakenfold's ranking. You miss the point. Its not about qualification or ranking all this, but about broadcasting and repeat shows every single week. And if we discuss about this subject, is because we care Oakenfold, not the contrary. So, if you think Oakenfold is number 1 DJ in the world, good for you. I really like him, but that's not the subject. |
