i personally enjoyed his set more this time than last couple times, but maybe that's because i spent some time in the a/v booth watching pvd do his mixing. it gave me a chance to more carefully watch how the live on-the-fly mixing can be used to play with the crowd and extend some loops and build-ups based on crowd reaction. with other djs, you see that from the floor when the djs just go wild on the mixer. with pvd, the hard mixing can be more subtle as it's on his laptops and midi controllers.

i also know i had a good time because i hit my head really hard on the ceiling three times, jumping up for a few great moments/songs/transitions (when standing up against the wall on the a/v side, i only have 1-inch clearance, and i have the three bumps today on my head to prove it).

main room looked pvd-packed as expected, and you would think the whole club was packed, but the other rooms were actually very light. one of the reasons i really like pvd nights at 1015 is because the other rooms fill up, but not so much this time.

pvd seemed to be having more fun than previous times, so i think that vibe rubbed off on the crowd. otherwise, as i always say, i don't do the whole track ID'ing thing, so i can't report on anything in particular that stood out. i guess that means just a typical solid set from pvd.

Well I had missed PVD at 1015 the last couple of shows, but I know from the last time I saw him there it was different. Enjoying himself more? Perhaps. Didn't seem to show it. I thought he used to enjoy it a lot. To me he seemed a little bored...I guess after djing for over 20 years, you might be. Which is probably why he brought his entire studio with him... I don't know that producing live does it for me necessarily unless its like Dfuse.

Honestly the first two hours for me were BOOORING. I felt like falling asleep..this is the second PVD show where I felt like that. But once I played Sardines and found Rafal and the others, I had a BLASSST!! THANK YOU!!!

heh, what a buzzkill ;) i'm trying to be a bit more positive. but honestly, yes, it was the same old pvd. and yes, he only seemed to have real fun during a handful of build-ups (so a handful of times out of four hours is a really low %). and that's why i'm not sure i would care to see pvd in a one-room venue (like the upcoming etd.fright), unless it was a low ceiling dark dungeon of a venue back in berlin like a TRESOR, heh.

I know, those low ceilings make you cream your pants.

heh, how ironic that here i am talking about hitting my head on a low ceiling and yet those are my favorite types of venues. some of the best parties i've done were dark low-ceiling techno parties in eastern europe, and a secret gem of a bar in madrid called 'el capote'

Actually, I think the floor level in the DJ booth was lower back in the day with the same overhead piece....pretty sure it used to be ground level so the cieling was a rather normal height then...but hten they redid the booth in like 2000 I think and they raised the DJ up w/o changig the overhead.

My historical notes could be wrong thoug. Long time ago hehe

I believe it was lower... Elevated when the newly built booth was built.

Seems like alot of us missed out on the PVD event this time around. With the majority of TA's I got txt from at EDC, Im sure most of us were not there.

Ill see if I can find those Armin photos, or some when Digweed was there or BT.. that shows the booth before it changed.. Or I might even create a post askin if anyone has any old school pix.

It definitely wasn't as crowded as a "normal" PVD night at 1015, which was certainly a good thing. I hate not being able to move in the main room. PVD's set was kinda meh. I liked his first and last hours, but the middle two didn't really seem to go anywhere for me. Though, this is the third time I've seen him here, and was probably my most favorite (or least boring?). It feels like 4 hours is too long for him. Saw a lot of new faces there, but like I said, it wasn't all that crowded.

I was there.... all in all a decent night, nothing special.

Pros: 4 drink tickets with my vip ticket, was cool. cause i was able to use it anywhere in the club. at any bar in the club, not just the vip room. 4 Drink tickets useable anywhere, good idea.

Lighting was good, best I have seen it at the club in some time.

I always like it when headliners have 4 hour sets. VIP ticket got me expidited entry. This time it wasnt a cluster to get in looked like it went smoothly. Considering it didnt looked as packed as other PVD nights.

Cons: Was getting the feeling that PVD wasnt feeling his 4 hour set. Too many long transitions and periods where you felt like you were on the PVD train.

MAINROOM SOUND? OFFFFF. Wasnt bad, but wasnt great either. I heard my friends talking to me over the sound.

No massive cold blast of air like on big nights when headliners come out. whats that stuff called?

PVD played alot of the same tracks we have all heard over and over. PVD's laptop crashing, and him playing having him to play on CDS, looks like Paul forgot how to use CDJ's!

Skills/Dyloot killing the crowd after PVD's set. Boring, fluffy, ty sounding trance that does not go over well anywhere... note to Skills DJ's, STOP PLAYING THE SAME ASS GET SOME NEW STUFF.

The front room was good, until mainroom opened. Then the front room cleared out and stayed cleared out. Upstairs never packed out, music was boring and inconsistent.

Basement was completely empty. Shut down early, appently there was no Dj down there. Main room music was pumped into that room to no one.

The club had a really weird atmosphere.. I left after Whyloot and didnt bother to stay for Taj...
