| Now is trance dead? At least it seems to be on life support. |

Most of the trance is cr*p these days. Orkidea, 00.db and Mirco De Govia (and in some degree Jaytech) have released good trance album this year and that isn't too much. And the most radioshows which plays trance are big piece of garbage. ASOT, TATW and these sometimes have gem in it but one good track in two hours is a f*cking waste of time.
John OO Fleming - Global Trance Grooves, Oliver Prime - Aromatherapy and Christopher Lawrence - Rush Hour are the sources I find good trance nowadays... |

I'm in a similar situation, but decided to explore other genres and older trance until something fresh emerges. I hang around here to keep an ear to the ground, and to learn from like-minded listeners. I'm sure some hot new trend will appear eventually, but it's a matter of how long a wait. I'm still holding on to my ridiculous Balearic fantasy, in secret hope that it will come true one of these years.
You can't force yourself to fall in love with music. You hear it, and it just happens. For me, trance is like that old lover recalled in steamy memory, who later developed terrible habits that caused the relationship to fall apart. I hear second-hand stories of his continued behavior, and know nothing has changed.
Like lovers, genres we fall for have common themes but are each distinctive in their own ways. Waiting for trance to come back is a lot like waiting for an old lover who is now a different person. Remember the past fondly, but keep your head up for the next one coming down the street.

Oh, I don't know. Samantha had a failed experiment with that Latin chick, but Carrie? Nah.
I've... I've said too much.

I personally think there's still plenty of good tracks being released, in the last year I can think of probably 50-100 "good" tracks, very few traditional anthems on par with things like cream or cafe del mar, etc, but some damn fine tracks nonetheless. IMO the issue with trance was the move towards big labels, promoing the music on those labels and DJs signing to those labels then only playing music heavily from those labels.
This to me is the equivalent of an artist being signed to a paint manufacturer, then only being given half of their normal palette to paint with to promote those colors. Yeah Armada or Perfecto are cool, but , open it up a little bit.
Another analogy would be a tour guide that takes you to the coolest places in a city or a tour guide that takes money on the side and takes you to the tourist traps. DJs are a tour guide for music that they think is rad.
Enough analogies, and none compares to the steamy lover bit above anyway. :p There's good individual tracks being released and there's good DJs spinning them, but the icon DJs have done the genre a disservice. |

| Was going to post long post about lots of people here seemingly living in the past on trance, and new stuff being generally because people are stuck on their old tastes, but my connection ed me over and now you will have to do with this ^^ |
