hey i was just wondering, why the heck are the allen and heath mixers so much money? its like 900 us!!! the pcv 175/275 run at about 400 us new. and the xone mixers look about the same. is it just quality??
reemo
do not judge by looks when it comes to a mixer... otherwise you may think those gemini 626's are really cool :)

allen and heath 32's have effects and a much high build quality than the vestax's...

dont be fooled into thinking the PCV-275 has effects because it doesn't! its only got some feature to send and return to a seperate effects unit if you have one.

you have to look at it by price.. for under $400, u probably won't find a much better mixer then the Vestax.. but if you can afford it, the A&H are top knotch quality.. if you get the vestax, you won't be dissappointed.. just don't expect to get what you would by paying $900 for an A&H from your $400 Vestax..

mwahaha, you will be using you're puny pcv 275's while i command the decks with the pure sounding, lfo filters, digitall recall system, and VCF's :)

talk about quality, i cant wait till my baby comes home :)
JohnSmith
yeah.. your probably right.

but, hey, $500 more is about 50 more records we can afford to buy. it's all a tradeoff.

this will be my first mixer, i don't need anything more, and i definitely don't need effects.

I just need a good mixer, and the vestax 275 is it.

enjoy your allen and heath though.

i think i will eventually get a DJM3000 if i bother to upgrade.

hey hey, take it easy :thepirate. Vestax mixers have very good audio quality, the difference between the Xone 32 and PCV275 would probably be beyond human hearing.. and the 275 has one of the lowest S/N ratios for any DJ Mixer. U are paying alot extra for the effects when u buy a xone32, and thats why im not getting it. don't need the fx, i feel they get tiresome after awhile :eyes:

i will be picking one of those up w/in the next few weeks.. i need a rack-mount 19" mixer that will also fit the top-mount w/ my CD controller.. plus i need the 4 channels because i have 2 cd decks along w/ my techs and on my 2 ch. mixer right now it gets annoying that i have to keep switch back and forth between phono/aux.. plus w/ the 4 channels i can mix any of the 4 channels.. right now im just limited to mixing whichever is hooked up to ch. 1

the vestax 275 to Xone is a HUGE jump. not only for the filters, but the 4 band EQ, the level indicators on the channel so that you know if you are bringing the 2 tracks in @ the same volume. The connections are way differnt, XLR compared to RCA..which is WORLD of difference there alone

oh and the selectable channel...and different x-fader curves...
JohnSmith
well.. in my opinion the vestax is pretty damn good. maybe not AS good, but pretty damn good. and it's less than HALF the price.

for one, i don't NEED fx, and i don't NEED an adjustable cross fader, the vestax is perfect for trance so i hear.

as for level meters, on the Allen and Heath they are only 4 leds high, that's hardly enough.

on the vestax they are nice and big. the vestax doesn't have them for each channel, but you can switch the cue section to show the master on one side, and the cue on the other(at least i think you can)

and finally the RCA/XLR connectors, what it has balanced XLR outs? that doesn't mean much, even my ty numark EM-360 I took back has those.

most times you are going to use the RCAs anyway. the line in and phono in are going to be RCA (at least they better be if you want to plug in a standard turntable or cd player), so the difference is only in the output.

anyway, no point in arguing, i only want this for bedroom DJing

adjustable curves on the crossfader is a big plus to me... it allows you more control over the mix... and if I recall the EQ's on the Xone32 are much deeper than the -16db that the vestax gives. The VCF's on the X:One are more than just effects, also... effects are much more like reverbs, echos, flangers, etc... VCFs are simply synth style frequency filters, and if they work like other VCFs, can compliment the EQ.

the Xone32 does NOT have 4 band EQs, but the Xone 62 and 464 do. Personally, I think that would just make mixing more of a pain, having to worry about a forth EQ to adjust. The EQs on the Xone32 are standard 3 band ...

yes, the 275 is suited idealy to trance... but trance is not my thing when it comes to mixing, i find hardhouse, nrg, and breaks to be much more fun ;) i think the Xone32 is better suited to a wider range of styles.

So, I found the X:one32 for $700, new and shipped. anyone find a better deal? I'm probably gonna buy soon, so i'm price shopping now :)
