so this security guard at work showed me some 'basshunter' and i felt bad for the guy.
i told him i'd make him a cd of good trance, so i started looking around.
i don't listen to trance anymore so i'm just gonna give him a bunch of old stuff.
this is waht i have for him so far

any suggestions would be great, but try and keep it in the same time frame please. |

Well I don't know who basshunter is but I had made a lot of trance cds for people who had zero clue about the genre, and have generally had good results.
First does this dude seem kinda like a tough/macho guy, or someone who seems concerned about masculinity etc. I think you know what I'm getting at. These kinda guys aren't gonna dig smooth melodic and especially vocal trance. If this is the case stick to heavier or less melodic trance. Lost Vagueness is a perfect choice imo.
If this isn't the case then just throw on some random classics with 2 or 3 vocal tracks at the most. If he digs it you can always show him whatever classics you left out. Actually I'm gonna say Solarcoaster is a must.
edit: no they aren't gonna like vocal trance. oops. |

| i tried that once with a friend of mine. he listens to the same crap and he knows i like dance music so he asked me to make him a CD. i still filled it up with some well known dance anthems (synaesthesia, strangeworld, etc ) and the guy said it was too boring for him... its futile. people will like what they like its pointless trying to convert them unless they want to be converted. |

| The only way to do it is to ween them off the cheese, not just get them straight into better, more subtle trance. |

Wrong.
They need to be converted slowly.
A friend of mine was listening to Ian Van Dahl and Robert Miles 2 years ago and now listens to psy-trance. I took me a long time, but we got there. |

No one 'needs' to be converted at all. if they're truly interested in exploring a different genre then fair play, otherwise its ridiculous to force it on them |

If he like Basshunter, why not try some vocal stuff?
Off the top of my head
Male vocals:
Kuffdam & Plant - The Ones We Loved
Terry Ferminal - Walk Away
Super8 & Dj Tab - Off The World
Gareth Emery - More Than Anything
Markus Shulz - Without You Near
Coast 2 Coast - Cut Me
Female vocals:
Thrillseekers - Waiting Here For You
Mind One - Hurt Of Intention
Agnelli & Nelson - Big Sky
Marksun & Brian - Saturday
Any time someone has asked for a mix from me in the past, I try to get it as close to their preferences without compromising my own taste.
Hope this helps |

whatever you do... don't listen to A.B either.
holy fuk! there's all sorts of wrong in that playlist.
Martin Roth & Alex Bartlett - Off the World is fine.
Ronski Speed feat Aruna - All The Way
Nic Chagall - What You Need [Marco V remix]
Majai - Phoria [Elevation Mix]
Robert Nickson - Never Again [Nitrous Oxide Remix]
OceanLab - Sirens Of The Sea [Cosmic Gate Vocal Mix] *i like dub more*
give him some *slightly* newer tracks then what you've added. Those are the vocals I can think of off the top of my head. . . |
