:D

I'd like to tattoo something that actually had a meaning for me (and that could be read). For a while I considered getting this tattoed:
quote:
行く川のながれは絶えずして、しかも本の水にあらず。

Which is the first sentence of a famous Japanese text that says pretty much what Heraclitus had said a few centuries earlier. But, because I can read Japanese, and the tattooist probably doesn't, I would probably regret it :p

edit: I'm having some trouble with the encoding... here's the source:
http://www.aozora.gr.jp/cards/000196/files/975_15935.html

It's the first sentence.

It isn't helping I don't have Jap characters installed... nor do I read/speak Japanese so I'll take your word for it. Is there anything culturally Brazilian which would work?
Aside from tribal, no sense getting something tribal like some dumb white s do here, when they're not actually in a tribe... well I guess dumb white s form their own tribe.

We call them bogans :p

When Myra gets back I'll see if we can get a decent photo of the Dead themed Sun tattoo I have - it isn't "tribal", but I also don't know how else to really describe it. A friend of mine from back home was a pretty epic artist who went on to become a tattoo artist, and she designed the image and actually tattooed it on me herself.

I don't think a ton of folks have seen it, but Myra definitely always says it's her favorite of the tattoos I have - and it's probably also my favorite as it's the only one that I know is absolutely unique.

It was also probably the most painful of the ones I have as it basically goes from just above my left nipple up onto my collar bone.

actually i have a godsmack t shirt protecting my mixer from dust a few feet to the left of me right now hahaa

but to get back on topic... i'm against getting any kind of random tattoo... i dont think you should get one unless it really means something to you, like others have said there are countless s out there with random tattoo's on them just because it looks cool, and shortly thereafter, they realize that they were really foolish to get it in the first place...

There are quite a few things, but I just can't pick a sentence and/or a sign that really translated who I am, as the Tower of Babel and/or a quote about all things being impermanent.

I really wouldn't like to choose a design simply for aesthetic reasons...

That's why I'm glad every single one of mine was music related (save for one which is music/heritage related - I have Neil Young quote that appeared at the end of Kurt Cobains suicide note that is on a banner with a shamrock - subtle homage to my Irish grandparents, hoping to add a flag eventually) - and not "flavor of the moment" music related.

Three of the four of them I had actually known I wanted for years before I was even able to get tattooed.
