Your trippin. They were eagle wings and some of em have stripes (kinda like how a sergeant at a real police department has 3 stripes on their sleeves.
You gotta admire Vanguard security for being so intimidating. Most of them are cool. "most"
You want really cool security guards go to Element! I can call them family! |

I just meant in general, the people going to see tiesto in a mega club, rammed to the walls, dressed in 500$ outfits, with a collective 8 tons of hair gel, and camera phones out everywhere, vs. someone like me going to old miami in detroit at 10am to see 5 guys from berlin playing really weird organic music on vinyl for a bunch of techno kids wearing headbands and used clothes on a lawn at a VFW bar...
...just vastly different experiences with dance music. |
yeah i know what u mean.
I alway rock out with some dress shirt that i bought at Ross for a good 10 bucks some jeans and some skater shoes.
And im actually there for the MUSIC, not the trendyness... |

By no means am I saying its bad to dress up either, I own some expensive clothes and sunglasses too...I'm more amazed at the striking difference in the experience of dance music, when really, both are 4/4 loopy repetitive music made largely on computers.
The elevation of the DJ to the level of some kind of messiah of dancing seems to have a lot to do with it. 80% of the people on that lawn above are not paying any attention to the DJ. 99% of the people in the tiesto crowd shot are absolutely fixated on him.
I just find the differences fascinating. |

I talked to one of the guards who told me about it...
the head of security is a ring (mma) fighter who also runs his own security group. the pin is earned by different employees (of the security) who go above and beyond there duty. not every security guard wears one.
not all the security guys (and girls) are asses, they've just been programmed that way after dealing with all kinds of at the club besides the EDM nights. if you ever go out to one of there hip hop nights (such as Friday), the crowd is absolutely horrible: coked out, wanna-be rich boys on steroids and everyone thinks they're the next Ultimate Fighting Champ b/c they took a couple of jiu-jitsu classes. thats kind of why security is the way they are. |

And I noticed that many of em (especially the ones in the front) are wearing bullet-proof vests. (I don't blame em after what happened to one of their colleagues) |

Whats funny to me is that they are trying to boost up the security guards in a stupid way.
They are NOT the military or cops that should be commemorated with like that.
They are ONLY securities making 15 bucks TOPS. So why do they need all this stupid ?
To boost the self esteem? To give them "pride" for working at Vangaurd?
Im sorry but im dieing laughing at all this.
Also by no means am i putting down the security guards, they are working doing there job its not their fault, i am laughing at management that thought this was a good trendy idea. If i was a security there i would choose the option to quit before i wore that . But hey thats just me... |

| lol... Security at my new club ROCKS!!! They're the nicest guards ever. They are ultra nice and they even open every door for you. If you walk into the patio, they open the door for you. They even great you as you walk into the club. They also wear really nice suits. Very professional. |

The worst security guards are in Las Vegas! Ever see how quickly a guard goes from your enemy to your best friend after slipping him a 20?
You think they really work for their 15 bucks an hour? Security guards work for clubs so they can hustle for tips. (One of the reason many are such dicks is that they can get more tips by being a dick, intimidating and receiving their dub or c-note)
Guess its just part of the game... |
