Considering the number of people saying it was a terrible disaster, I'm going to go ahead and take the word of the masses as opposed to you, Pete.

There are far more people who are pissed about having traveled to Minitek than are satisfied.

Also, lol - local forum alt. :stongue:

Minimoo really dropped the ball on this one. I'm pissed that I traveled from the Midwest to NYC for the event...but there were people there from the Domincan Republic, the UK, etc. It was pretty much a disaster. I expected first year jitters, but this was ridiculous. I've heard they ran out of money, sponsors backed out at the last minute, and so on. Regardless, some kind of announcement should have been made to people who bought tickets.

Despite all this, the little bit of music I heard was pretty damn good. I did not care for the afterparty at Rebel, the sound was fairly ty and they stopped serving alcohol way earlier than other places(if they served at all?). Saturday night at Webster Hall was a blast though...Phil from M.A.N.D.Y. and Audiofly were up there on the decks, having a good time and throwing down awesome tracks(with the exception of 1 record that was scratched and they refused to pull...but hey, it was a cool track).

So yeah, the artists did not disappoint...but minimoo was way too ambitious. They tried to turn a festival into an "underground" event and it backfired. Too many people traveled too far...more information should have been shared upfront. I can say I will never attend another party thrown by minimoo.

i am not going to proof read anything, sorry

the people we were staying and hanging out with in new york are friends with the whole minimoo crew and warned us upon arrival that would most likely hit the fan the whole weekend. they didnt want to go into full detail because they didnt want us getting too down about the possible outcomes for the weekend. they were supposed to have the ticket booth up and running by 4pm so people could stop by and pick up their wristbands early to avoid long lines for when the party kicked off. this kept getting pushed back right up until 10pm and they still werent ready. the purpose of the RFID wristbands was so you could connect it to a credit/debit card and swipe your wrist at the minitek venue beer/liquor stations and they wouldnt have to worry about their bar tendors stealing money. they were supposed to have RFID refill stations so you could add more money when you needed. this turned out to be a huge disaster. they never got it to work all weekend and people ended up paying cash the whole time. most bar tenders looked 19-20 years old and had no idea what they were doing.

PENN station was supposed to be the night venue the whole weekend. turned out only going down part of the time on friday. the venue was huge and the sound was propper, great place actually, the place really started to fill up and go off around 1:30-2 everybody was having a great time. before we knew it the lights turned on right at 3 right as paul ritch was supposed to go on. they posted a sign on all the video boards that the party would continue at rebel. so the cops had shut down penn station and it was to continue at rebel. meaning everybody had to walk there, wait in line, 18-20 year olds couldnt get etc....however there was no cover as long as you had a minitek wristband. once inside paul was tearing up as expected followed by paco and marco tagging, great great set by all, i loved the venue, really reminded me of a spybar, but more underground, sound kinda sucked up front in front of the booth where is was, but still the vibe was great, and yes they played untill 6am.

the day venue was coney island and was supposed to start at 10am with plaslaiko, of course they werent ready until 12:30ish. upon entering, RFID still didnt work, second stage wasnt even ready, only main stage. djs ended up getting cut because of everything not being set up. they kept running out of drink ticket, beer, water etc..... second statge didnt even get up and going until after 6. on a possitive note, sound was great on both stages, everybody was in rare party form having a great time even though all the crap going on, i still had a blast, quite a few actually, supperb sets by all no joke...back to the bad stuff, venue was shut down at 10 by the cops again and even more djs were cut. they couldnt have the night venue at penn stations again, so miniteks way of dealing with all the cut djs was to split up all the djs throughout 3 different venues, meaning you could see everybody you were supposed to, bastards

sunday sound didnt even show up until noon at coney island cutting more djs, not that many people showed up untill around at least 5, the people running the bar got in a fight with the minitek people because they were using underage people to serve the bar without a liquor license and stol $14,000 cash from minitek. punches were thrown and the bar tending people packed up all the water, alcohol, and supplies and left at 1:30. i dont even know if they ever started serving again. on a possitive not, more great sets all around

oh yeah, there wasnt a single ATM machine inside the venue coney island, and the closest one outside didnt work, this really honked me off.

i didnt get to see everybody play, but of the people i did, the stand out sets to me were

camea, afternoon coffee boys, paul ritch, exercise one, heartthrob, and great day sets by bill patrick & butane..

it truly is a shame how everything turned out, i really feel bad for the whole minimoo crew, even though its their own fault, it will be extremely hard to recover from such an organizational nightmare, but gotta give them props for going after something like this and for assembling such a lineup

yes they dropped the ball on few things (bracelets!! wtf)

but i had no problems finding out where the right afters were and what time you should be there.I've enjoyed all but one afters and all the venues including Cielo at the very end.
Waited in line only once (friday night penn plaza) but i got there at 10:30 so right after they opened the door to get in. Besides that i i think i was lucky to talk to right people and thats it.
Me and my friend ana were fortunate enough to skip all the troubles (even got 12pack smuggled to the festival) etc. a lot of people are bitching because they didnt get tickets in advance and had to stay in really long lines or got to the venues way to late etc.

I have over 2 hrs of videos from the whole thing when i post them online maybe when you will see and hear you will change your mind.

Anywho me and my new friends from new york (big ups to Ana, Gianni, Alie B, Katz, Heidi, Deepak, Farah, Camea, Pete and his bro and get physical crew and our chicago pps Wes, Jeff, Gus and the rest) had a fantastic time over the whole weekend !!!

I love and already miss New York

pete .. your sounding like someone who bought a ferrari, took it home, realized they put an escort engine in it, and your way to ashamed to tell anyone or take it back, honestly

that is cool you had a good time, great for you but there are about 2000 other people who had a REALLY ty time. i'm with rob, give up the banter and let people hate if they are going to hate, minimoo deserves it.

We, Club Vertigo, apologize to those that have purchased and attempted to attend Minitek in New York on September 12th, 13th and 14th upon Vertigo's promotion. Please know we had zero affiliation with the disorganization of Minitek as we were solely asked to represent Costa Rica in regards to
Minitek's promotion within our region and nothing more.

Minitek's great disorganization in the eyes of agencies and management involved, the artists, the venues and the fans were extremely disorganized and very disappointing, and to so many fans that traveled international, disastrous (especially during the cancellation of Friday night's entire line-up at a predicted venue with a capacity of 5000 people).

To the fans from abroad, please know New York has some of the finest promoters as well as agencies in the business. We keep respect to those as well as the indicated sponsors of Minitek, as their reputation that may have possibly been tainted by the damage caused by Minimoo's Minitek Festival. The music and the people of "the scene" in New York are quite beauitful and the passion lies thick. Keep faith in New York.

Again, we apologize for any mishap to those caught up in the festival's fallout, upon Vertigo's promotion.

Awww, someone must be upset because Mommy forgot to give him his animal crackers and juice box this morning.

...

Seriously though, this might be funny if you were just some anonymous internet troll, but the fact that you're a real person that almost all of us have actually met just makes it depressing.

Hell, you don't even seem to sell stolen, errrr - I mean "fell off the truck" electronics anymore - did you replace it with another redeeming quality or are they just all gone now?
