really?

I know alot of ppl that start feeling better once they sweat in their sleep.

I had a nasty disease coming back from partying with all the techno kids and I did a whole lot of sweating. I don't see what's so bad about it? There's no cure for the common cold.

It's probably not a cold....... Aids i am guessing.

I do the same thing. I try to sweat out the cold by working out. Maybe it's a dumb, but it works for me too.

Isn't the intense sweating associated with the "breaking" of a fever and thus eventually feeling better? :conf:

If you are sick then rest. By working out you will most likely prolong your illness while at the same time have a ty workout and make no gains in the gym because your body is concentrating on getting well not building muscle.

Have you ever had a fever?

Do you want to know how they break your fever in a hospital if they cant give you any more antibiotics?

They stick you in a bath tub of ice water and pour more ice into it, turn the room's temperature down to as cold as it can be and they may even use portable AC units and blast you with them, all at once.

It's unpleasent but it works, they certainly don't make you sweat out a fever.

i feel better once i've worked out lightly, medically no they don't make you run on a tredmill or anything to get rid of a cold because they just come and go but why miss and entire week or exercise? light exercise does more good than harm for me personally

Yes, I've had this done as the result of Scarlet Fever as a child. However, what I was referring to as the "breaking" of a fever is usually a night of intense sweating which is followed by a reduction in how high the fever was the previous day/night. I've always heard this referred to as, "his/her fever broke during the night". Maybe that's just poor terminology combined with bassackwards medicine in rural TN.

You are correct, but this is different than sweating because you are working out at the gym. Sweating from working out isn't going to cause a fever to break. It would be counterproductive to your recovery.

Ya I think that's simply wrong, wives tales and other rubbish.

I only sweat when I get a fever of 105+ And the sweat only goes away if I take a cold shower/wash it off.

It's possible that a fever diminishes on it's own, it's also possible to only sweat during the worst part of a fever but it isn't a universal thing I'm sure.

Some fevers are just and get owned by your body, the dangerous ones though will continue on boiling your brain until they are treated, and a treadmill wont help.
